  1. Just ordered 9 titles. The sale is on until supplies run out. Let's hope some of these are not already out of stock - I'll be curious to see the feedback in the next week or so to see if anything did not ship. I know some of the ones I ordered are OOP. I have of course a list of more things for possible future purchases Bertrand.
  2. Any reason not to go for this? The sandbox thing is puzzling. Are they CDRs? Do they have no case or booklet? The only time I bought from oldies.com was when I got the Grassella Oliphant and Miroslav Vitous Collectibles when they were super cheap a year or two ago. Other than the fact that they left a track off the Vitous and one chorus missing from 'The Yodel' on the Oliphant, I have no complaints When does this sale end? Bertrand. P.S. The Stitt 3-CD Prestige box is only $4.98!
  3. Jackie McLean wrote a theme song for the show. The sheet music is in the Library of Congress Jazz copyright collection, but I have never heard the performance. Bertrand.
  4. There are tons of them at the Institute of jazz studies at Rutgers. They are in a room though, not on display. Bertrand.
  5. I got all 11 CDs today, including This Is Criss! Bertrand.
  6. So roughly what is the time between when orders are placed and when they are received? Twelve days or so? Like everyone else, I never got an e-mail confirmation. I miss the old Concord. Bertrand.
  7. Too bad the article doesn't mention which archive in D.C. is getting this. Bertrand.
  8. Why are some titles (such as the Hutcherson which I was going to order soon) listed as being on back order? Has this happened with Mosaic before? Bertrand.
  9. I particularly dig 'Yo Miles!' and Wallace Roney's recent work. His current rhythm section is brilliant; I just love the groove they get going. I hope they are recorded soon. Bertrand.
  10. I, however, continue to utterly fail to find him the least bit funny. I lump him in with Wanda Sykes. Bertrand.
  11. Made an order tonight - 11 CDs for $56 and change. Let's see what happens. Bertrand.
  12. Did Mark attempt to make an exhaustive list of Herbie's compositions? I started on this last summer, but then got busy with the move and my insane late hours at work and I have not yet wrapped it up. Bertrand.
  13. Which titles are out of stock? Haven't placed an order yet. Bertrand.
  14. Well, I blew it. Even though the link Ghost gave claimed the sale was good until 7/1, it seems to be over already. I was going to take advantage of it this week-end. Bummer. Bertrand.
  15. What is the minimum for the free shipping? Bertrand.
  16. Thanks to everyone for their wishes! Bertrand.
  17. Kenny Dorham never seems to be mentioned, but I find his compositions stunning and highly original. Bertrand.
  18. Do you have the references for the film you are referring to? Since it's part of the Mulligan estate, it is probably not even through recorded sound that you would view it. I can find out ore for you next time I go there. Bertrand.
  19. I was wondering why it had been so long since the last issue. Has there been another issue since the one with Zorn on the cover? Bertrand.
  20. But the best track from this period, 'Portia', is missing from this collection. I saw Miles a few times during this period. The September '86 gig in Paris was incredible. Bertrand.
  21. Thanks for the warning, Cali, I'll stay away. Bertrand.
  22. Why the fuck do the media need to report this fact? They could have just said 'the death seemed to be accidental' and left it at that. The internet would have spread the word anyway. Not that we really need to know. In general, when a 'celebrity' dies, why do some people feel they are entitled to know the cause of death? What if it is something embarrassing (as is the case here)? It just adds to the family's grief. Bertrand.
  23. You cannot make copies of the recordings at LoC, that goes without saying. It's annoying to me that I occasionally mention these things here, and invariably someone starts asking about copies or PMs me. One time, someone was berating me because they knew someone who had successfully made copies and was suggesting I was a wimp for not doing the same. I've been going there for years, they've earned my trust, does this dude really think I'd throw that all away??? I'm sorry if someone felt the staff was overbearing, but I can assure you they did not interrupt because they did not trust them. Bertrand.
  24. Yes, the Soothsayer thing was a fiasco. I decided to wait for the RVG to repurchase it, and I still hear some shrill parts (esp. on 'Lady Day'). Definitely improvement, but some of the problems must be in the master tape. Bertrand.
