'Got tickets to see his quartet at the Salle Pleyel in October!' I noticed on their website that this concert is listed as a tribute to Miles Davis. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that the 10/29 concert is occurring during the time frame of the exhibit below. Bertrand. I went to see the Wallace Roney quintet at Bohemian Caverns tonight. Fantastic gig - his current rhythm section really gets a great groove going. They've added a lot of tunes to the repertoire, including Tony Williams' 'Only With You', which Wallace recorded with Tony. I highly recommend this gig - I will try to go back on Sunday. So they could have just put the Woodstock set on 2-CDs of almost an hour each and I would have picked it up right away. But they included Volunteers, so I didn't get it thinking: 'I already have some of this'. How stupid. Bertrand.

Still waiting for an official release on DVD of some of this stuff... And whatever happened to the 2-CD set from Juan-Les-Pins in 1969? This stuff would sell if marketed properly. Bertrand.

Has anyone picked this up yet? By 1969, the Airplane live were hit and miss (if the set list includes 'You Wear Your Dresses Too Short', I'm outta there as a rule - I know this one doesn't). How are they on this date? Is Jack Casady heard prominently? I do like the song selection. I had passed on the Fillmore set for years, but then when I found at Daedalus for $6 I picked it up - It's astounding. The version of 'Star Track' blows my mind. Does the Woodstock set come anywhere near this? Bertrand.

That's my theory too - Concord must have discovered the error and told Oldies they couldn't sell it that cheap. Let's see if there are any other titles on which they cancel the backorder. Did anyone order Blues For Dracula and get a Joe Pass CD instead

The Max Roach Mosaic set includes a 7/6/58 Newport date where they do 'Tune Up'. Roach specifically credits Vinson in the announcement that I believe was unissued until the Mosaic set. A Jazz research friend of mine in France had Vinson over to his house, and he played 'Four' and 'Tune Up' for him as he had conceived them. The story is that Vinson gave these to Miles, so credits will always go to Miles; the estate could theoretically sue otherwise. That's some serious chunk of change that Eddie gave up to Miles. One thing I never hear about is what their relationship was. It's not like they are known to have played together all that often. Bertrand.

I got my back-ordered Setting The Pace today, which completes my order of 9 (modest by youse guys standards, I know). So other than Stitt's Bits, what titles have been declared officially unavailable by oldies.com? Note that it is still listed on their site (1-3 days), but the 'over 2,300' titles is now 'over 2,000', so they must have dropped some titles. I plan to make small orders from time to time until they declare their stock depleted. I know some of these will be gone for good afterwards, but I just can't get 100 CDs at a time. I have accumulated a healthy Fantasy collection over the years. It's astounding how much good stuff there still is in their sale that I could get, and I'm not even thinking about stuff that I could get for regular price at Concord, Newbury etc. Bertrand.
