  1. Steve Feigenbaum is a great guy. I see him at gigs a lot.
  2. She did get an NEA Jazz Master a couple of years ago but did not show up in person. My understanding is that she alienated a lot of people with her extreme politics. She is not very active musically, that is true.
  3. Wow, I am glad I helped Bonnie and Ted get back in touch. I had forgotten about this.
  4. Is this a different take of Cliff Walk than the one on Newport Rebels? I am confused also! Is there something new with Booker Little on it?
  5. We were casually acquainted. What I wanted to ask is what this Lee Morgan thing is that is mentioned in the New Yorker article.
  6. Ran into the Detective at Blues Alley last night and got a glacial reception. He must be seeing my social media posts.
  7. This tune was on the lost Atlantic session. However, the issued release was made from a transfer of the original tape and the tune got missed.
  8. Did anyone get this? It shows as sold out from the label, and neither Amazon nor Deepdiscount have it. Where else can I get it? t?
  9. Can the entire concert with Abbey and Clifford Jordan be seen somewhere?
  10. The tracks with Winston will be weak, but 6 tracks with Grimes is worth the cost. Amazing how his discography quintupled in size!
  11. Agreed! Plus the Love Supreme Vamp.
  12. I will try to get a Fats tribute concert together in DC as part of the Lee Morgan Festival I am organizing. I already have a Woody Shaw concert scheduled for 10/15, and three of Lee's music on 10/14, 10/22 and 11/19.
  13. I started the process on Facebook. Let's see where this goes...
  14. Not holding my breath on the corrected version. I wonder if I can get the word out to Mickey's family.

Dug this up after hearing Theme for Erney. It was Bootsie Barnes who told me about this Tyner record. I wish I had asked McCoy. I wonder now if it really existed. How can we find out? I will start with Facebook.
  16. I had the same thought. I won't ask Wayne's widow if she knows about it...
  17. This was not one of the choices, but my favorite era is 1965, after Love Supreme and up to the quartet's last date.
  18. I had contributed to the campaign many years ago and my understanding was that there would be a DVD. I am sure that was abandoned. Is that a violation of the kickstarter/gofundme? I don't have a prime account. I know there is a 30-day free trial but with everything going on in my life right now, I am not ready to start a trial and be mindful of the 30-day deadline. I am not sure when I will have time to watch it. I only contributed under the assumption I was paying for a DVD.
  19. If a DC showing is scheduled, it would be nice to organize a concert.
  20. Odd that the track is listed as Take Twelve here.
  21. And 20 years later, the Alderson tapes were found and are being released. A Bob Dylan scholar found them apparently at NYPL?
  22. Another party needs to be paid, yes. Would Kenny Barron remember? It was his first and possibly only gig with Stitt.
