  1. Wallace Roney recorded two DIFFERENT songs called 'Lost', one by Wayne Shorter, one by Jacky Terrasson. Bertrand.
  2. I bet they missed one tune when they did the whole Monk catalog.
  3. This is why discographies MUST have composer credits, or they are useless. Bertrand.
  4. He has been playing with TS Monk for a long time. Bertrand.
  5. How does that one go? I only know the one on Sorcerer
  6. Actually, I would like to know how Duke Pearson became aware of Tones for Joan's Bones and Straight Up and Down and decided to arrange them, and what he thinks of the arrangements. They are probably my two favorite big band arrangements that I have heard. Bertrand.
  7. Do you know who wrote Haeschen?
  8. He could start with some more Left Bank material. He got a number of tapes from them beyond the two already released. Bertrand.
  9. I figured. This could be good. Is it all originals by various band members? He also produced a record by pianist Jason Rebello in the late 80s when Jason was in his group, a group that never officially recorded. Bertrand.
  10. Didn't know about this concert. Might have been tempted to go, but now, not so sure...
  11. I doubt Apatow's version will be better, will wait for one of you guys to decide that I may pick up the Buddy Terry, although the Japanese Import is actually cheaper. Go figure. BTW, I will be calling this the Apatow reissues. Simpler for me to remember.
  12. Never paid attention to the auction. So the Monk Estate sold them?
  13. What's up with these Monk manuscripts on Ebay and who is selling them? See Ethan Iverson's blog. Bertrand.
  14. No, it was Felser who mentioned the archival titles.
  15. Spirit of '76 also has Ed Cassidy, right? Is it mostly instrumental? What are the archival titles you are referring to? I have yet to find someone on Organissimo who has heard the Ash Grove CD Bertrand.
  16. Related question: Beyond the four studio albums with the original lineup, are there any Spirit albums worth getting? I would like more of that same kind of thing. Those records are uneven, but the best parts are great. I have a download of the Model Shop soundtrack. Bertrand.
  17. Yes, I had noticed that which is why I thought it might be a CD-R. Bertrand.
  18. Did anyone pick this up? How is it? Is it a CD-R or a real CD? Thanks, Bertrand.
  19. So none of the Stitt's were ever issued in the US, correct? I don't necessarily need a box, but maybe one or two. Volume 7 may be more dates with Coltrane from Spring 1960. There seems to be enough material. Bertrand.
  20. I don't have the European issues, and since these were never issued by Columbia/Sony before, this box is tempting. BUT, now you guys make me want the material with Stitt as well. Is there enough for another box in the bootleg series? If not, are there any I can get that are not packaged with any of the 'Trane sessions that will be in the new box? Bertrand.
  21. Apparently AJACS was poorly attended. What a shame. Sorry I could not go
  22. Another Fantasy box I would grab immediately: Shelly Manne at the Blackhawk. I do not have this material yet. I never understand this complaint of material being 're-released to death'. People are born and die every minute, there is always a new potential market, although youngsters do prefer downloads.
  23. If you like jazz vocals, my good friend Danielle Wertz who recently moved to the Bay Area has some gigs coming up: www.daniellewertz.com
  24. Is there footage of Max? I wonder who was with him.
  25. Great story! I am glad you recorded it! Bertrand.
