  1. WHAT??!?!? Yer from Michigan and you don't like Springs...... I mean, Seger?!!?? Just kidding, of course.
  2. You got that right. Now that I'm older, I think John Taylor's bass playing is waaaaaaaay UNDerrated. White boys don't get much funkier, IMHO. Course, I'da NEVER said that when I was in 8th grade! (edited cuz I don't know what the hell I'm doing)
  3. The local Barnes & Noble has that, and I keep forgetting to get that one. Thanks for reminding me. I can't remember the guy's name either, but I think he's one of those great things that comes outta Texas! BFT #5 FINALLY kicked my ass into ordering BOTH Quartet Out CDs. Kicked myself again after realizing what I'd been missing. BFT #8 made me get Jack Wilson's SOMETHING PERSONAL. The latest BFT (#10) made me get Roland Kirk's THE INFLATED TEAR.
  4. Can't believe no one's scooped up the Nichols box yet! For that matter, I can't believe I haven't scooped it up yet!
  5. After I made my last post, I had that song in my head for the rest of the night. "Muskrat lo-o-o-o-ooooove!" Oh well, at least it wasn't a Donovan tune...... Or "American Pie" for that matter! How about "I Dig Rock & Roll Music" by Peter Paul & Mary? That one's so bad and so out of touch it's unintentionally hilarious!
  6. Thankfully, I was only six at the time, and therefore had no real clue as to what constituted good music at the time. Therefore, I feel no shame in saying that I actually like this song, simply for the good memories it brings back. Other than that, it's tripe. ********** I used to think Talk Talk's "It's My Life" was pretty cheesy until No Doubt recently destroyed it. This version is so ghastly it will probably make the top ten of the worst songs ever fifty years from now!
  7. Happy Birthday!!! Nothin' like havin' a birthday on a Friday!!!
  8. Happy Birthday Joe! Thanks for keepin' it greeeeeazy! Hope to catch you guys this summer!
  9. As long as the man still has life in his frame, sounds like he'll just keep right on drumming. Ever get the feeling that when he plays nowadays, he hears something none of us can? Then again, I guess that could be said about his entire career........
  10. Speaking of Texan posters, anyone heard from Soul Stream lately? UNT alum Herb Ellis!
  11. Fat Back Jefferson, keepin' it greeeeazy for y'all!
  12. KNTU, baby!!!!
  13. Any thoughts on this one? I heard a track from this on the radio the other day and rather liked it!
  14. I'm glad you guys posted a link for track #3, as I found it used today (after searching online! Is this really OOP?). Listening to it right now, and am thankful for yet another BFT that has pointed me in the direction of an artist I'm unfmailiar with!
  15. I was gonna order a copy of my own, but am I reading this right? Zweitausendeins wants something like 25 EUR just to ship it overseas? If so, thanks but no; I'll stick with my happy little burn, thankyouberrymuch. And speaking of that...... Many thanks to deaus62 for making a copy for me until I can find my own legit copy, which I hope to do soon. This is a wonderful album, one that invites many repeated CLOSE listenings. I guess my only real gripe with it, and it's a small one, is the number of bass solos (but then, that's only because I'm not a fan of bass solos to begin with). But there is so much to love about this, not the least of which is the telepathy between Hank and Elvin. You guys were right: even on brushes, Elvin's still a monster player! But the tune I keep going back to is the title tune. What a song! So much emotion, and yet it's never overdone or bombastic; just very direct. So I listened to it back to back with the Great Jazz Trio album, and I realized there's no comparison. Sure it's Hank and Elvin, but it's two completely different sessions and feelings. Needless to say, I like 'em both, not one over the other. So, a great choice for an AOW! If someone can confirm that Zweitausendeins really does charge that much, then I'll continue my search here in the States. Otherwise, I'm gonna order that sucker posthaste!
  16. Not only am I the president of Hair Club For Babies, I’m also a user. But for you, my friend, because you’re family, I give you a sample!

    Summer RVGs

Black Fire is Joe Henderson's best quartet album, IMHO! This will definitely be worth the upgrade from the Mosaic!
  18. More congratulations, and thanks for posting the pictures. She is absolutely beautiful! As for Allison, she is just radiant; has that new mother glow! Gotta love it!!!!
  19. 1. That’s gotta be Jaco. I’ve never heard any of his solo albums, but I gotta figure this isn’t Weather Report. 2. This, OTOH, could be WR. If not solo Wayne Shorter. Not sure of either. 3. I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out! Whatta grooooove!!!! 4. My stock answer to a track like this is Larry Young, something from the Mosaic, either Of Love and Peace or Contrasts. And usually, when I give an answer like that I’m usually wrong. But that’s my guess anyway, simply because of the vocals. And I should know this tune, too, but I can’t recall it. 5. Wow, this song is 11 minutes long? It’s very dreamy. It sure didn’t feel that long! Another one I can’t wait to find out the answer! 6. Very strange. HAFC™. 7. Yikes! NEXT!!!!! 8. HAFC™. Kinda boring, sorry to say. 9. The strings intro almost lost me, but it got kinda interesting. I like how it’s integrated into the structure of the song. Sounds kinda Tyner-ish. 10. HAFC™. Again! Very exotic, though. The sound effects are kinda grating, though. 11. Egad, I’m lost! HELP!!!! 12. Wow, now THIS is cool! I love drones, though; and this is as good as it gets! Another one I can’t wait to see the answer! 13. Sounds very Quartet Out-ish, kinda like “Days of Wine and Four Roses.” Obviously, this isn’t them (unless of course Sangrey’s switched to trumpet!). 14. Buddy Merrill solo? (heh heh heh) Honestly, I don’t know. Sounds sorta like early John Fahey. Sorta. Joe Pass maybe? 15. Bill Doggett? No, wait: Andy Williams! That’s it. Since I can’t be serious about anything, I’m going to bed!
  20. Yeah, and besides, Ringo's singin' 'em! Makes 'em that much more enjoyable! Always liked Ringo's deadpan vocal delivery. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" OTOH, is just plain dumb. A foreshadowing of what was to come in McCartney's solo career (right up there with "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey," except that MSH didn't have Linda's..... er, "singing" on it.) (Edited for placement. How my response got mixed in with Moose's post, I'll never know.)
  21. What, they didn't have janitors there? (P'doom, KSSSHHH!)
  22. Pepsi! Imagine my surprise when they actually have it!
  23. What's the name of the Smiths song that goes: "Just shut your mouth/......(forgot the lyrics)..../I am human and I need to be loved/Just like anyone" Come to think of it, that could pretty much be ANY Smiths song, but I always liked the beat of that particular one. The Cure Disintegration: my sister and I each bought our own copies so we wouldn't have to keep sharing one! Loved the sound on that one!
