  1. i saw this problem earlier in the day, and i thought it might just be my computer. i agree - don't fix what's not broken. the other way was simple and logical. this new way is not. i think they've made a big mistake.
  2. hey - how about some positive feedback?
  3. help me out - who is that snitch? should i recognize him? did tony whack the wrong guy?
  4. i've only been to san fran 1 time (around 1992). if i remember correctly there were some great stores in the castro district. there was a tower, but there were also about 5 used stores in a 1-2 block area. there was 1 store (the name escapes me) that was 1 of the best stores i've ever been to. here was in a small center next to a gym. nothing was very well organized, but he had stacks and stacks of used cd's. my wife stood outside and watch all the gorgeous guys go in and out of the gym, while i searched the stacks for about 45 minutes. at the time we did not know it was the predominant gay area in san fran. i was just looking for the record stores. it wasn't until my wife noticed that we were the only male/female couple in sight that it dawned on us. we didn't care, but it was an unusual experience to be the minority in a population.
  5. you should be real happy about the clay date - you probably purchased it from me. i just sold one on ebay. it's a wonderful date. and if it is the one i sold - it's in the mail.
  6. i think paulie was going to help out the waiter and bail out christopher, but then the waiter mouthed off and christopher threw that rock at him. at that point they had almost no choice, but to shoot him. aj's crying mommy is one of the only false moves i've seen in the entire series. i just don't buy him crying so easily upon seeing a bear. and what 16 year old uses the term mommy. i understand what david chase is trying to accomplish story wise, but it felt like and akward stretch.
  7. actually being able to buy a cd of the concert is the new concert t-shirt. quite a few groups are experminting with pressing cd's at the venue immediately after the concert ends. then there are the websites that allow you to buy any show in a tour like the who and the allman brothers did recently. just goes to show how far out sun ra really was.
  8. i believe there is a live sun ra record that was only available if you actually attended the concert that was recorded. everyone in attendance received a coupon to be mailed in after the show.
  9. i think season 4 was still better than anything else on tv. i think it gets unfairly criticized. while it lacked the highs of season 1, i think it worked very well to deepen the characters. ralphie was a great character, and the developing tension between tony and johnny sack was really good. i think all of the characters strengthened their positions so to say. i better understand paulie at this point. if anything the entire season was somewhat a repositioning to extend the story lines. you had great big story arcs that worked to increase the tension surrounding tony - the breakup of his marriage, tension within his group (christopher and paulie), tension with the ny group (johnny sack and carmine), and tensions from the outside (the fbi). i guess the marriage between tony's sister and bobby took place between seasons.
  10. my wife has decided that she wants a digital camera. neither one of us is all that tech savy. any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. i assume we are looking for something in the 3 megapixil range. probably looking to spend something around $300. what should i look for? what are the most beneficial features? is there a particular brand to buy (or stay away from)?
  11. nice place dan. good luck!
  12. i did see the vh1 bands reunited. that was a pretty good show. it's interesting, you could tell that the less you meant in the band heirarchy, the easier it was to move on with your life. the bass player is making a good living being a photographer, and he seems to be rather well adjusted. the lead singer and the guitar player seem to have never gotten over the fact that they were no longer in a band.
  13. i bought "burglar" by freddie king from them a few months ago, and i also had to bug them to get it shipped. i also paid with paypal - yadda, yadda, yadda. i did not leave any feedback at all, but i won't buy from them again. what bugs me about them the most though is they have flooded the jazz cd section with a ton of verve stuff at retail prices. they list them all with a "buy it now" option so it's hard to weed them out if you are looking for a good quick deal.
  14. doesn't the donkey (eddie murphy) say this line in shrek?
  15. i actually preferred "darklands." one of the few instances where the sophmore release was bettern than the debut. once all of the feedback was stripped away (an interesting gimmick), you could hear that the guys wrote some really good pop songs.
  16. thanks for the input lon. i was totally bummed. i couldn't wait to crack it open, but now i have to send it back without opening it.
  17. i just purchased this from rhino handmade and received my copy today. unfortunately it has the wrong cover (some latin group that i've never heard of). i called rhino customer service, and they said i have to pay to mail it back to them, they will send my a new one, and then i can call them for shipping reimbursement on my credit card. i am not anticipating a problem, but has anyone else had to send anything back to rhino? if so, did it go okay? also, has anyone else received the wrong cover on the percy mayfield? thanks for the input. bob
  18. thanks lon. that's what most of my posts are - failed attempts at jokes.
  19. lon, i'm not sure what you mean. what parade am i raining on? and why the empahsis on THIS? bob
  20. that's probably the same set that went for $66 and some change around the end of december.
  21. tjazz, i am looking for this cd. are you interested in trading or selling? thanks bob
  22. i am pretty sure it is out of print. one just sold on ebay this week for $166. now that's a bargain.
  23. i remember earl used to kick the bengals' asses on a regular basis back in the late 70's. he had the biggest thighs i've ever seen.
  24. i believe they started as a record store in the los angeles area. the store is still there, but it is no longer connected to the label. they released odds and ends for years before signing an agreement with warner and then becoming a part of warner. if anyone has more detailed or more accurate info, please add.
  25. there's a "master jazz piano" mosaic that's over $400 with 8 hours to go. the last 6 have averaged around $150. something looks a little fishy here.
