  1. Some more: A killer album! Percussion heavy, but some of the best stuff in that vein that I ever heard.
  2. You're right, except that the times have changed That said, it would have been great to see both on one stage locking horns.
  3. In a way, Rahsaan was in his day what James Carter is now, IMO.
  4. That album made me love the music of Duke Ellington and Al Hibbler (Rahsaan I altready loved).
  5. Jimmy Shirley on guitar!
  6. Interestingly, 6 more tracks from this session (sans Bechet) were issued on Musicraft. This is the take of "Careless Love" without Bechet that was issued on Musicraft: All those blues numbers would make a nice CD. But the one Jimmy Shirley sessions is probably lost, isn't it?
  7. This late afternoon:
  8. Snooker World Championship - Mark Selby vs. Mark Allen
  9. The Mosaics are a total of 20-22 CDs (not all of them were on CD). The Blue Notes are about half as many, not counting the 4 CD Hot Jazz set, which overlaps with them. Blue Note CDs: Albert Ammons & Meade Lux Lewis 1 CD Reminiscin' - 1 CD Edmond Hall - 2 CDs Blue Note Jazzmen - 2 CDs Sidney Bechet Hits - 1 CD Sidney Bechet w. Davison - 1 CD Port of Harlem Jazzmen - 1 CD George Lewis - 1 CD ? Swingtets - 1 CD Hot Jazz box set - 4 CDs That makes 15.
  10. That's a very nice album! I cannot understand why Schobert's concertos are not played more often.
  11. That set does not include any Blue Note recordings - it is all RCA Victor etc.
  12. Was lucky to find a sealed copy of this long oop set on amazon offered by a reliable French retailer that often has interesting things. I had been looking for this for more than ten years - it was sold out fast after it was released. Woelfl is a very interesting composer, friend of Mozart, born in Salzburg and taught by Mozart's father and Michael Haydn, serious competitor to Beethoven ( to whom he dedicated his op.6) in Vienna, but went on to Paris and London (where he died). He had large hands and was able to grasp 13th intervals! This may be the reason why some of his works are never played ..... The music in this set is wonderful and of interest to anybody loving Mozart or Beethoven, Marvellously played by an excellent pianist on a unique instrument, the only surviving piano by a builder from Naples obviously well-versed in Viennese piano building. I received it yesterday, put it on for breakfast this morning and was enchanted!
  13. Terre Siciliane IGP “Sikulo” Bianco, Tre Colonne 2019 60% Catarratto, 20% Zibibbo, 20% Pinot Grigio
