  1. The weekend bottle: "Johan de Barrou" Corbieres Reserve 2018
  2. I think you're mistaken here. The Riverside Bohemia album does not include any vocals, but the Five Spot on United Artists does, and that's Brock Peters.
  3. "The Covers of Invention" - would be a great name for a cover band!
  4. That's the advantage of a Lord Disco subscription, these tracks are easy to find there. Not on CD was a Terry Gibbs track from Vol.1, A many Albam track from Vol.2, and that Russian Jazz Quartet from Vol.3.
  5. That was added to this Milt Jackson reissue as it was from one of those sessions:
  6. One of the greatest jazz historians ever! R.I.P.
  7. Soem are really hilarious: https://jazzmf.com/jazz-musician-pseudonyms/
  8. The ones with Ruby Braff! I also like this one, in which he played a key role: Do we need a Dick Hyman thread?
  9. My thoughts exactly! I heard "The Minotaur" on AFN radio and was fascinated. But only when it was issued on CD I was able to get a copy.
  10. Just my thoughts. Some Greatest Hits LP was among my first ten buys. RIP
  11. It definietely was up to date. It was certainly more advanced than your standard swing combo rhythm team. Kenny Clarke's and Max Roach's inventions were brand new then. Hyman may be eclectic, but I prefer that a lot over players that use more or less cliché phrases in comparison to his pretty authentic knowledge of the older styles.
  12. Yes I did. Sorry to say I do not listen to much jazz right now as I started work on a book project about early 18th century music that takes up most of my listening time. I will get back to it later when I need a break. 😅
  13. Earlier this week I took the SACD version to a listening session with a friend whose equipment cost close to a hundred grand. The sound was stunning!
