  1. Drummers: Frankie Dunlop, then Shadow Wilson. Blakey was playing what he always played, Riley was not really an individual stylist, although he really leaned in. Bassists: They all fit in, as long as they were strong walkers. That's what he was!
  2. I'M really curious what your source for this info is! Probably the album liner?
  3. Just found it! BTW this is a very good recording, interpretation and sound-wise, of very rare music, and using the proper piano, a Silbermann copy!
  4. I know, but right now there is no other source for the cover, not even on the label's website. I intend to replace it as soon it is featured somewhere else. BTW I as the poster, see it too!

  6. He always sounded young, for sure, and he really could play anything. R.I.P.
  7. Just to add that all the links I posted will not work anymore. Her own website hosted by JazzCorner was soon deactivated, and CD Baby no longer has a webshop. You can find her CDs as used copies on discogs, of course. Too bad.
  8. One of my underrated favourites is Earl May, whom most may know from his participation on an early Coltrane Prestige session (but even the CD reissue does not include the alternate take of the Blues tune): What really opened up my ears for his playing was this Mickey Tucker album:
  9. Any opinions about this box set? https://www.discogs.com/release/646124-Various-Howls-Raps-And-Roars-Recordings-From-The-San-Francisco-Poetry-Renaissance
  10. Jack regularly posts on facebook.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty * Original Soundtrack, is a soundtrack released by Konami and Japanese music label, Phantom (Japan), on November 29, 2001 under the catalog number KMCA-127. Two soundtracks were released for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The first simply titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack contains 17 tracks from the game, with the majority coming from the Tanker chapter, leaving many pieces from the Plant chapter absent. However, Konami decided to release a second soundtrack collection entitled Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Soundtrack 2: The Other Side which contains 20 tracks almost entirely from the Plant chapter. There are 3 versions of this soundtrack. The original Japanese version, a European version and a North American version with different cover arts. The European version was released on November 29, 2001 under the catalog number KOE-CDS-137 (discogs says 139) and the North American version was released on November 4, 2003 under the catalog number KCD-226. The Ever Anime issue is a Taiwanese bootleg. * Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (commonly abbreviated as MGS2) is a stealth action game directed by Hideo Kojima, developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and published by Konami for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. It is the fourth game in the Metal Gear series produced and directed by Kojima and is the direct sequel of Metal Gear Solid. http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_2:_Sons_of_Liberty_Original_Soundtrack
  12. I remember reading that, too.
  13. This one always fascinated me, Jon Hendricks was great at reciting, as on his own "Evolution of the Blues" project:
  14. This LP sounds like it is monophonic! If il had a mono switch on my amp l would have checked it. Just put on the CD for comparison - the LP copy l have is indeed mono!
  15. The base is Cuban, but of course filtered through Californian influences. With Bobby Matos, Rudy Calzado, Victor Pantoja, Eddie Cano there is quite some Californian Cuban/Latin prominence on board.
  16. Better, sound wise and for the conception, more successful than Ambos Mundos. Harvey Mason was excellent at adapting himself to the Cuban groove, Eddie Marshall much less so.
  17. R.I.P. I'm not that familiar with his work, but what I heard was very good.
