  1. If a scan of the page is sufficient, I can e-mail you one. PM me your e-mail adress. If you want a printed copy, it would be € 5,80 plus postage. I should be able to get a copy - as a subscriber I get it before it hits the newsstands. PM as well. At your service. BTW - do you still have copies of the first two volumes? I was low on cash when you first offered them here.
  2. If he can provoke this kind of discussion just by his passing, JB must be one of the most important/influential .....
  3. That's the brand I have been using for years with very good results. The amount of residue remaining on the stylus after cleaning is harmless compared to the accumulated dirt in the record grooves! A stylus needs cleaning! The professional products do not affect the glue used for the stylus tip etc.
  4. The January issue of the renowned German Fono Forum magazine features a very favorable review of the whole series. Only bummer is they mention some guy Allen Lowen all the time .....
  5. Weird funny stuff - still I'd like to hear the original. My DSL is working, but not on the fastest level - there's only some medium speed available where I live. Or my Windows 98 SE and old processor are too slow for this .... so I viewed this with some interruptions.
  6. Nothing new to me: An old friend of mine discovered just that when he started writing a guitar harmony book a year ago. There are some chord sequences, many of them popular in the baroque age, like the ciacona, passacaglia, follia etc., that go back to very old folk songs and are simply logic and easy to memorize and play. The one the Pachelbel Canon in based upon is one of them.
  7. Maybe he likes the Waitresses, but not their singing ...... This compilation has its rightful place among my Xmas discs!
  8. Let's see if I get my new DSL connection to work - otherwise Mr. Bassman will bring along the discs on Friday. Maybe we will listen and guess together? Hehe ....
  9. Switch is a very easy to handle conversion tool.
  10. R.I.P., and thanks for the music. It was his music around 1970 that made me understand the African part in African-American music, and I will be eternally grateful for that. That groove was irresistible!
  11. I think the only album to come close to the original Headhunters is the Japanese Live double LP, Flood.
  12. One question: which is the preferable version of Nat King Cole's album? They have 20, 14, and 22 tracks, respectively - I guess the third is the best choice?
  13. I simply wasn't at home much during the last 4 weeks or didn't have much time to post. My current favourite to get me in the mood while setting up the Christmas tree this afternoon: No matter what people think of her - I like her singing, find she plays a nice piano and this album one of the most swingin' Xmas affairs.
  14. Roger Rosenberg! I know him from Mongo Santamaria's band, who called him the best baritone saxist he ever had. Played in a much more energetic style there, though. Curious about that one, too! Some very nice surprises here: NHÖP playing the Pippi Langstromp theme!
  15. Chronologically, the Landslide material would rather go with Dexter Calling - it was recorded before the Go / A Swingin' Affair sessions. Clubhouse is fine as it is, that Landslide material is not up to the level of Clubhouse. IIRC Leo Parker was supposed to be on these sessions, as a reunion of the roommates in the Eckstine band, but Parker died before the date - the shadow of his passing was all over Dexter, the way I hear him play ....
  16. Jazz reissues always were for specialists, especially those well done. I reckon that reissues from the SONY/BMG vaults will be handled by Mosaic in the future. I heard from some private source that Verve/Universal has something planned, but I'll believe it only when I hold them in my hands .....
  17. In a letter to his wife, Hindemith once called the other work on this CD "Lieder eines fahrenlassenden Gesellen" .......
  18. I have a CD recorded live in Japan in 2002 with Johnson and Wackerman: If it's gotta be fusion, Holdsworth is a top choice. I'd go for it but take some earplugs ....
  19. The Tyner is a must buy for me - I love those Cosmos sessions. Strange nobody raves about that Jazz Piano album: I have the French reissue of the LP and it's already gorgeous - listening to the whole event must be heavenly!
  20. Thanks - I faintly remember reading this list. As I had just bought the Lonehill issue of the Hendricks (always wondered why Cuscuna didn't get around to that one much earlier!) I may have ignored it ..... anyway, the new issue sounds much better (the Lonehill was dubbed from LP and heavily denoised - I suspect de-hissing on the new CD as well, the cymbals should sound brighter).
  21. Yes - thanks! But I'd rather wait until I have my DSL connection installed - should take place any day now.
  22. I must have missed the announcement of this series when it was launched earlier this year. So far I found: Jon Hendricks, A Good Git-Together (Pacific Jazz) Chris Connor at the Village Gate (FM/Roulette) Does anyone have a complete list? Thanks, as always!
  23. The Inbal is the top choice for many insiders over here, and at that price, you can't go wrong. For Brahms, my recommendation would be the MacKerras:
  24. İ once bought an LP signed by Cedar Walton at an Eastern Rebellion concert, but that was organized by the Timeless label, who were responsible for the tour.
  25. I am in the town of Elaziğ ın Eastern Turkey at this moment - there was an extended obituary in state TV this morning. R.İ.P., and thanks for the wealth of music you made available. Just as his father was an ambassador for the state, he was for the music.
