  1. If I had to select only one Scarlatti disc for the desert island, it would be this one. Simply amazing, and his statements in the booklet interview are some of the best one can read about Scarlatti.
  2. Me, too ...... funny how much these printed catalogues are pleasing to look at, rather than today's online listings.
  3. Donald Byrd live: Second volume was issued of the first two. The last one was the co-led Byrd/Adams group.
  4. I never understood why all "swinging" should sound the same. It is part of jazz individualism just as tone/sound and phrasing. Greer swung in his own way. Take Vernel Fournier, whose ride cymbal certainly was not standard.
  5. Nice way to open Pandora's box.
  6. The weekend bottle: CUVE 102 - BIO** 2020 – FR-BIO-01 Languedoc Appellation d’Origine Protégée
  7. Saw this only now. Nice compilation. My late suggestion: "Love Is Like A Cigarette", sung by Carmen Lundy on a Kip Hanrahan album. https://www.discogs.com/release/1269210-Kip-Hanrahan-Days-And-Nights-Of-Blue-Luck-Inverted
  8. Totally tjaderized!

  9. Decided to re-visit this set, one disc each day. Today it was disc 4. My recently bought Micromega CD-30 player really opens up a window into the studio and demonstrates how well these tracks were recorded. Never heard the sound of Miles, Cannonball, and Coltrane so clearly.
  10. Earlier today: Very interesting new recording - organ instead of harpsichord or piano, which establishes an equal sound balance between all three voices. These are trio sonatas, as reported by Bach's son-in-law Altnickol, so all parts should be audible on an equal level. It makes you liste to these pieces as if you heard them never before. Next was: Excellent playing by two of our new rising stars on the historically informed scene, but recorded with a bit too much room ambience, so the harpsichord is overshadowed by the flute, the sound of which is great. But the way they play is fantastic. Next: The Sinfonietta is an unforgettable piece of music!
  11. Click on those three dots on the upper right corner of a post.
  12. Kelly was an always swinging, good spirited player, always listening. The albums you mention are all badly made reissues of the VeeJay albums, which were a real mess until Mosaic did their box set. Later there wer better made single CD reissues as well. If you need info, just ask. The live stuff really sounded bad. I had them all but sold them at some point as listening was not enjoyable.
  13. I love this one!
  14. Much better! Thanks!
  15. I too dislike the dark background. Took me a while to find the "unread" button that is hardly visible. Besides it looks great and on my tablet and cell phone, too.
  16. Thanks, that saves me some copy and paste work!
  17. Sorry to hear this - R.I.P.
  18. Please wait. I found the info I need in different places and probably can put them together in a text file.
  19. Does anybody here happen to have a scan or file of the tracklist and discographical details of this box set?
