  1. Fire! Orchestra - Echoes [Rune Grammofon, Norway 2023]
  2. I was never a fan of them, a bit too heavy for me at the time. All the others you've been posting, definitely
  3. Yeah, I think this thread's a good idea as he's bound to write about a variety of subjects
  4. Miles Coltrane story has it's own thread https://www.organissimo.org/forum/topic/89999-lewis-porter-coltrane-projects-that-never-happened-two-reunion-albums-with-miles-in-1967/
  5. EKE BBB, you're playing my 90s record collection and taking me down memory lane 😄👍🏻
  6. after reading this https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/apr/18/natalie-merchant-on-returning-to-music-after-losing-her-voice-10000-maniacs How I loved 'In My Tribe'
  7. Absolutely nothing wrong with strong opinions just how they're expressed with such high-handedness. And yes, I was guilty of being disrespectful too and I'll apologise for the way my points were made, the language used, but not their essence. I didn't refer to your world as narrow at all, just referred to "your world" so that's either wilful misinterpretation to set up a straw man or an error. I'll take it as an error. I agree with your view of "Trumpies" and their lack of understanding of the basics but that wasn't really my point as I was talking about music and yes, it can be enjoyed without knowing the history. It may be enjoyed more or differently with that knowledge but that doesn't deny an enjoyment to those that don't engage more deeply. As for "If you don’t know the music, you shouldn’t talk about it." that's just arrant nonsense. Will we be setting exams for everyone and only letting them talk about music when they achieve a certain grade? Sounds like a great idea...
  8. £20 postage putting me off. Hopefully it will get distributed here at some point
  9. Peerless. And a great cover too 👍🏻
  10. I'm sorry but that's just b.s. in itself. Some of us enjoy music for how it sounds to us and don't need a whole heap of history to do so. I'm sure all your peerless research gives you the right piss on other musicians, but possibly only in your world. You seem intent on setting yourself above so many others, both musicians and listeners, it's tiresome There, that's off my chest now. I'm off to listen to some Jason Moran and be socially edified (whatever the fk that actually means) whilst doing so
  11. I'll give it an online spin
  12. No, thanks, sounds great. That's a Horn I don't have. I do have most of the other RCAs though. I thought it might have been a track from one of his albums from India
  13. I wish he didn't price his download releases so high (I pay sales tax on top in the UK) he has every right to of course. I saw that in concert and really enjoyed it. Maybe I should pony up the money
  14. Bet that was good I missed her in London just this last weekend
  15. I had every confidence
  16. Great, thanks. I hope Paul Horn figures on that compilation too
  17. Yes, I ordered both. They had deal with a discount to do so
  18. And that, makes me want to hear the album...
  19. I preordered the upcoming Strut reissue of that, sounds great
  20. I certainly used to dig it, a lot
  21. I have a copy of that in the pile to go to the second hand shop this week, perhaps i should listen to it again beforehand 🤔
  22. Woodstock Workshop Orchestra - New Moon [Palcoscenico Records, Italy 1980] If this was on a more hip label it would be lauded by many more folk than I suspect it is. It'd probably do well with the current 'Spiritual Jazz' crew too Kalaparusha - Kalaparusha [Trio Records, Japan 1977] more Berger
  23. lovely album and a fitting tribute to the great Karl Berger who was 87 when he recorded this
