  1. Me too now. What a great album this is
  2. as does this, not heard it but may remedy that soon
  3. That is a very good album. Pursglove is good everywhere I've heard him. I've tried to follow him since seeing him play with Evan Parker at The Vortex years ago For a while a Birmingham based label had a suite of his slated for release but as far as I know it neither made it. His discography is a bit patchy, he teaches in Birmingham I think. This is a real feature and with two other fabulous players Then there's this, it's better than the cover art! he's a bass player too
  4. Well, I'm not sure he's been very high profile recently so I think you can give yourself a pass. I used to see him play regularly with SHJ and EP 15-20 years ago
  5. Nice album. Owner is John Coxon from Spring Heel Jack and Treader so I think those claims are very likely true. I have a couple of ex-EP's from there too. It's such a mad shop, stock everywhere from so many genres, a bit of a treasure trove
  6. depends on whether you like it or not
  7. I hope you're enjoying it
  8. Mary Halvorson - Belladonna Double bullseye
  9. Mary Halvorson - Amaryllis Another bullseye from MH. She's such an impressive musician
  10. From my youth too. I was all set to see them at Reading Festival in 1979, even had a "Gabba Gabba Hey" T-shirt printed up - they cancelled and Nils Lofgren, of all people, took their place. Still wore the T-shirt though.
  11. Thanks, I was streaming it
  12. I listened to it for the first time yesterday, it certainly has something to it. No liners for me. I never completely warmed to his previous leader dates, they had flashes. He can be heard to good effect with Mazurek
  13. very pleased to stumble upon this. Wade did a fabulous Gil Scott-Heron/Brian Jackson tribute a few years ago and I've wanted to hear more from her. Ernie Watts too!
  14. Today... Pharoah Sanders - Thembi [Impulse, 1971] Pharoah Sanders - Love In Us All [Impulse, 1974] Pharoah Sanders - Elevation [Impulse, France 1974] The Mystic Revelation Of Teppo Repo - Kosmoksen Erakko [Jazzpuu, Finland 2022] Streifenjunko - Sval Torv [Sofa Records, Norway 2012]
  15. Automatic purchase for me, thanks for highlighting it
  16. The Fat Controller Boris Johnson Billy Liar
  17. Terrific. I remember seeing Protein Man on many occasions
  18. Zoh Amba - O Life, O Light vol.1
  19. I missed them due to COVID too but did see them, for the first time, about 5 years ago. One of the most memorable gigs ever. They were everything and more that I was expecting That I can understand
  20. Jeff Mills & Rafael Leafar - The Override Switch [Axis, 2021]
  21. I always thought that it was a case of 'the truth will out". So stoned he said what he believed rather than hold back. Can't really see how any intoxicant can generate thought processes of such length and depth, they just removed his inhibitors. Anyway, we're agreed the man's a first rank idiot at the very least and probably not worth the effort. Apologies for derailing the thread. I need to restrain my automatic reactions when it comes to Clapton.
  22. I couldn't give him a pass for the racism. His comments were disgusting and vile and he went on at some length which points to the fact he'd been thinking and developing those thoughts for a while, no off the cuff, throwaway racism here (not that that would have been any more forgiveable) This at a time when the far right were very visible on the city streets in the UK and tensions really didn't need stoking. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/eric-clapton-rant-rock-against-racism/ Only good thing about it was it sporned the Rock Against Racism movement in the UK. Ironically I was listening to 461 about that time. Needless to say I haven't done so for a very long time. His recent pronouncements just go to show good guitar (never bought into the God accolades) playing doesn't require a brain Apologies if this post is deemed political, feel free to delete if so mods
