  1. Ed Wilkerson? Love the track Oops, posts crossed. Need to know the album. Love the RitualTrio
  2. That was my immediate thought too although the size of it is another disincentive.
  3. The end of a great literary life. A master.
  4. I misread that as 'Jungle Underground' and thought Jungle as a genre must have looked and sounded very different on either side of the pond 😃 I was very fond of Jangle in those days and will have a closer look at that comp. Edit to add: just checked the tracklisting and recognise none of the bands. I had thought that most Jangle I listened to was UK based, Postcard and beyond.
  5. Nice appreciation here https://thebluemoment.com/2020/12/12/happy-birthday-dionne-warwick/
  6. Digable Planets at the Jazz Cafe just after their first album, that was a night
  7. That's a great album
  8. That's a coincidence, only this evening was I recommended the Ronnie album by Bev Stapleton, ex of this parish
  9. Happy Birthday and thanks for all the great radio shows
  10. really? I didn't know there was more
  11. Two masters, being masterful
  12. OK, just checked and I have 17 titles on the label, less than I thought. Top five fwiw: Sabir Mateen - Urdla XXX Indigo Trio - The Ethiopean Princess meets the tantric priest. Because you get Michel Edelin and Nicole Mitchell on one disc Joshua Abrams - Unknown known Nicole Mitchell - Engraved In The Wind Joelle Leandre - Sisters Where Also, the LP release by Rob Mazurek & Jeff Parker
  13. Joshua Abrams Quartet - Unknown Known; Absolutely this one
  14. It's a very good label in my experience. I'll think of some particular titles and post them later but their recordings of Joelle Leander and Nicole Mitchell, together and separately are all winners. Lots of good Roscoe and one particular favourite is Sabir Mateen's solo disc.
  15. It did indeed
  16. I once ordered an LP box set from an Italian vendor and received two copies within a couple of days of each other. The box set had been discussed on this board and another UK member had mentioned they'd ordered it too. It was little surprise that I ended up shipping him his copy that had come to me by mistake (with the cost of the extra shipping covered by the vendor).
  17. That's a lot less of a flute album than it's name suggests You beat me to it That's a fine album. In fact I could list ten or so of hers, in various sized bands, that are well worth trying. Two of my favourites, very different from each other but both showing her complete facility with her instruments
  18. I saw her perform that, stunning evening's music. Coincidentally I was listening to this today for the first time in a long while
  19. Saw that band, at least once
  20. Playing 'Mexican Green' and his contributions are absolutely central to the success of the album.
  21. Spike Wells has tweeted that Ron Mathewson, the great bassist on so many recordings, has died. Jazz In Britain also sent a message to the same effect. Another Covid victim.
  22. I guess that rather depends on the mother-in-law concerned...is she more of a bebopper?
