  1. Yesterday, Roland Kirk's Verve/Limelight Recordings on Mosaic
  2. Don't know how I forgot Dino Saluzzi whose recent 'Albores' is a quiet masterpiece
  3. I agree about Stanko, definitely. Also, everything by Anouar Brahem is of a consistently high standard. Louis Sclavis has hit a rich seam too. Other artists that have released strong albums are Misha Alperin, John Surman, Stefano Battaglia, Enrico Rava, Christian Wallumrod, Markku Ounaskari, Francois Couturier, Tim Berne, Michael Formanek, Giovanni Guidi and I could easily go on. Any drop off for me has been in the last five years or so
  4. Great shame but what a legacy
  5. Happy New Year to everyone! May music be the healing force for you all in 2021
  6. Joe Chapman 'I'll be your everything'. Such a super compilation. Thanks ever so much for bringing to my attention
  7. My first time listening to this following this post. Billy Cee and Ruby Wilson 'Bluer than blue'!!!
  8. When I ordered this from them at the time of release I had issues with PayPal. HJ informed me it's because of Ali's name (some discussion of this elsewhere at the time). They have a very easy solution but I can't quite remember what it is - probably asking you to PayPal funds to them directly, I think. As Rabshakeh suggestions an email should do it. At least the lorry backlog us cleared now 🙄
  9. RBM sells on Discogs but I can't find anything to suggest they're the same entity. And as I see it Discogs is a marketplace rather than seller and I can see no reason why they would hold financial details. All transactions are carried out with individual sellers not Discogs per se. Happy to be proved wrong by someone more knowledgeable.

@CJ Shearn, apologies for deleting my original quoted post, I just wanted to word it better. Why do you think "just kiddin;" makes it any better? It doesn't undo the undertones of the statement, one iota

I really wish I didn't have to read this when I'm reading a thread about a pretty serious issue. Actually, i really wish I didn't have to read stuff like this at all. Emoji doesn't make it right in my book.
  12. Max Porter - Lanny James Ellroy - The Storm Fiona McCarthy - Walter Gropius; Visionary Founder Of The Bauhaus Philip Clark - Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time
  13. I'm really looking forward to this, Pim. Unlike most here I'm not a great Waldron fan but I'm very open to being educated. I'm a bit worried it could prove expensive 😃
  14. That Lowry suite was issued here https://www.discogs.com/Graham-Collier-The-Day-Of-The-Dead-October-Ferry-Symphony-Of-Scorpions-Forest-Path-To-The-Spring/release/6475492
  15. The top five would be in my top ten with the exception of the Frisell which I enjoyed but not as much as a lot of others. New albums by Irreversible Entanglements, Angles 10/9, the Thumbscrew Ours/Theirs, Charles Lloyds birthday concert, Anteloper and Denis Gonsalez all hit the spot for me
  16. Yes, he was a bit of a prodigy. I stopped paying much attention after 'The Knife' which I also thought was terrific. I've not heard that single in decades! Thanks for posting it
  17. Only discoverd that in the last couple of weeks. Fascinating listening especially given how much I enjoyed the Brubeck bio this year
  18. I loved that album, such a great set of songs. Saw them live about then too
  19. Beatrice Dillon https://beatricedillon.bandcamp.com/album/workaround It doesn't have to be Jazz does it?
  20. Me too. May have to get this
  21. Whilst they are the reason I haven't yet bought the release. I really don't need to hear a line up announcement every time I listen to the music. I can read.
  22. Certainly seems to spreading fast enough to be causing major concern countrywide now, not just in the SE as it was only on saturday. Currently still no evidence that people are getting any more ill with it. Some early suggestions that children may be getting it more than adults.
