  1. There's a reissue of that appearing on listings recently. Almost definitely a bootleg
  2. New strains from UK, SA and Brazil. All countries where government mismanagement or economic disadvantage has led to uncontrolled and high infection rates which encourages mutation. We're unlikely to see a South Korean strain I'll predict. As for Kent, at least it's not being disadvantaged by Brexit...
  3. Sounds great, even more tempted now
  4. The processing fee from Royal Mail always seems disproportionate
  5. I've an order lined up from Holland, wondering whether to pull the trigger or not now. An extra 20% won't break the bank but...
  6. It was delayed until December
  7. It's such a good album. I like your description. I'm guessing you know the first album too which is also very good. As are albums by Hutchings' other band Sons Of Kemet, different but equally impressive.
  8. That's sad. His playing on Pharaoh Sanders' 'Isipho Zam (My Gifts)' gets me every time.
  9. First they came for our sandwiches... https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jan/11/dutch-officials-seize-ham-sandwiches-from-british-drivers
  10. Back of an ideological fag packet. Musicians have been shafted by some swivel-eyed notion of value for money. Since posting last week, I've found even more Discogs sellers not selling to here. My slow move to streaming and downloads is about to be accelerated.
  11. That's a hell of a band too
  12. Hope it doesn't hang about too long for you. Keep up that exercise regime!
  13. Thanks to soulpope and Rabshakeh for the recommendation in Hutchfan's 70s thread. Certainly warming up a chill London
  14. This has prompted me to listen to this, I've not done so in years which probably tells its own story. First thing I notice is what a horrible bass sound, real rubber-band stuff. Edit to add: Listened through now. Some of the playing is really nice but the production is so 80s it's almost Stock, Waterman, Aitken levels Everything's dialled into red. This also goes for some of the playing too where subtlety and feeling is replaced by high-energy even on the ballad. Someone needed to shout "Calm down everyone!" or have controlled the sugar intake on the day.
  15. The Ensemble Al-Salaam - The Sojourner [Strata East/P-Vine, 2020] joyous music-making
  16. As someone lucky enough to have got my hands on a copy I have to say buy it! It's a marvellous listen that wears its complexity lightly. Anyone with ears open to composition and improvisation seamlessly intertwined will enjoy this. There's some good tunes too (as always with Alex's music)! And especially if you're an Evan Parker fan then don't think twice. Album of the year so far Yes, I was trying to work out how that happened, easing after first lockdown I guess
  17. Aha! Well that makes me even more happy with them then
  18. I came across three Discogs sellers the other day that had added statements that they were not now shipping to UK. No explanations but they are the first three examples I've come across in 10+ years. I was under the impression that Johnson's deal meant no extra costs on imports from EU but added paperwork may well deter sellers or become apparent in higher costs Sorry...I know
  19. "frictionless trade"...
  20. Yes, that's it. They mentioned in another thread recently about coming out as trans
  21. That's truly dreadful. Glad to hear they're safe. Might we consider changing the thread titles to something that highlights a board member requires our assistance?
  22. That's a great shame. Love the Center of the World recordings
  23. Such a tease... it better be the Savoy
  24. Last month I watched a stream of a performance of his Josephine Baker piece 'Perle Noire', astonishing and moving. I hope it gets recorded. I've only ever seen him live once with the Steve Lehman Octet. The Vortex nearly didn't have any walls left at the end of the evening. One of a very few artists whose albums I buy without much thought. Never not interesting and more often than not very good indeed. As always Steve, I envy you that experience.
  25. Because charlieboy enjoys it and can afford to? I don't see anyone being forced to join in... I don't understand it, way above my paygrade but each to their own.
