  1. Thanks, That's been on my 'to investigate' list for some time. Maybe I just should. edit: just looked at it again and realised my issue with it - Christian Lillinger, whose playing I really don't enjoy, having tried on numerous releases/occasions - undoubted technique but he needs to realise he doesn't have to shove it down everyone's throat all the time.
  2. The music rates pretty near that as far as I'm concerned Your replacement hopefully
  3. Mine's arrived. First listen happening now - slight warp {there's that quality control again) doesn't seem to be affecting playback, thankfully.
  4. I don't know Schwerdt but I would travel some distance to see Guy and Sommer together live, not so sure about a recording. Also, timings suggest 1CD but below the puff it states 2CD
  5. I wasn't too convinced by the line-ups on the Watts disc. I will interested to hear what you make of it.
  6. Yes that piqued my interest this morning. Looks like a fasciminating set. I'm pleased about the solo disc as I've not heard his other solo disc
  7. Matthew Halsall - Salute To The Sun [Gondwana]
  8. Only just snagged it, prompted by a thread elsewhere on the board a few weeks ago
  9. John Coltrane Quartet - Creation [Blue Parrott] a new favourite
  10. Dezron Douglas & Brandee Younger - Force Majeure [International Anthem] perfect Sunday afternoon listening
  11. Posting this for Steve Reynolds and anyone else who enjoys Dunmall
  12. Billy Harper - Trying To Make Heaven My Home [MPS, Spain] today's arrival. Now I just need to improve my Spanish so i can understand the liners...
  13. No, I've not. Thanks for the tip
  14. Genius footballer. The second goal against England in that quarter-final is sublime football and for me eclipses all the fuss about the first goal. Asif Kapadia's film 'Maradona' is a fascinating watch giving some insight into the off-pitch Diego Just to add, I didn't think that at the time, I was apoplectic with rage. Hindsight's a marvellous thing
  15. especially 'In A Sentimental Mood' and particularly Elvin's drumming on that tune Han Bennink & Willem Breuker - New Acoustic Swing Duo in Japan 1984 [Jazz & Now]
  16. Always interested in hearing new to me Bobby H
  17. I don't have that one. Good? Of course it is
  18. Never time not to listen to 'Ballads'
  19. I've recently been drinking the only Trappist ale brewed in the UK, Tynt Meadow. Brewed at the monastery where my uncle spent his life as a monk.
  20. The Evan Parker solo on the first track knocks me out each time. I'd not thought about the trombone/vibes on this one
  21. Watching this now. I'm very taken by Baba Zulu, the trio with the electric Saz. I'd heard one of their albums recently and live they're even better. Can't believe they played Café Oto last year - not really a surprise as it's located in an area of significant Turkish population.
  22. That looks very interesting. I have a good number of earlier Hampels and was trying to think if there were any with trombone but failed to come up with any
  23. Yes, that's good 'un Thanks for the reminder of that one, needs to come off the shelf
