  1. Interesting. They're still shipping to UK, My Hannibal Peterson LP arrived only yesterday from Japan and mighty pleased I am with it and with them for getting it here . In under 10 days too which is perfectly reasonable from my perspective.
  2. Not sure the chicken would agree...but I kind of agree with your approach otherwise Just off the back of this conversation I've just looked up our current government position on masks, which is " Face masks play a very important role in clinical settings, such as hospitals but there’s very little evidence of widespread benefit from their use outside of these clinical settings. Facemasks must be worn correctly, changed frequently, removed properly and disposed of safely in order to be effective. " It would seem that it's the correct use of them that is the message here
  3. Interesting to read as mask use is slowly on the increase here but only slowly - I'd say about 20% of people I see out shopping. Still no official word on whether use of the is beneficial or not. Most scientific advice over here seems to be that they are useful not for protection of the wearer but to protect others from the wearer who may be carrier. I suspect most people wearing them here are actually doing it to protect themselves. I expect some mandatory use will be introduced to coincide with any relaxation in public transport use. The Mayor of London is already saying a "non-medical face covering" should be used on buses and tubes.
  4. Joe Zawinul - The Rise And Fall Of The Third Stream [Vortex] A recent purchase that keeps finding its way to the turntable. This will become a real favourite.
  5. We had a two minute silence at 11.00 today. Obviously all VE day celebrations have been seriously curtailed. My 94yo neighbour tells of how as an 18yo she downed tools at the factory she worked in and walked the 8 miles into Trafalgar Square to join the celebrations. It must have been such a day of relief. However it also makes me think of my great uncle who remained a Japanese POW after May 8th and for some time still to come. For his and other families in the same position it must have been a bittersweet day
  6. Damn. Genius.
  7. Works for me
  8. If not and you want to do a Tubby, just let me know
  9. Nicely recorded. From Russell's own tapes of three different live radio broadcasts. Two different bass and piano players across the sessions. Music swings the roof off. Any Russell fan is going to like it
  10. I rather suspect that many people with disabilities and chronic health conditions feel that class exists already, as will those that have experienced age discrimination. As with many things, this pandemic is shedding light on these existing disparities and exacerbating them.
  11. Fuddle whilst Rome burns. But what's it matter to stay everyone's best mate.
  12. What's so wrong with being a vegetarian or a vegan anyway? Plenty of people manage, very happily and healthily. If meat is unsafe or unavailable people will survive and may even begin to question the farming and production methods that make meat, especially the processed kind, so cheap and readily available. Wouldn't do any harm if folk thought more about the environmental sustainability of meat consumption or the impact on livestock either.
  13. It's good but not nearly as good as the one classic he's already been partially responsible for (apart from the Talk Talk later albums). This one
  14. always good to have a new Ellman
  15. This too, on Blue Note France and the Blakey tribute that Bresna references. A 10"

  18. Damn, this one hurts. What a legacy. Thank you Mr. Allen Great photo Soulpope, it says so much "Such was the hole that Allen left in his band, Kuti needed four drummers to replace him." Guardian

  20. I'm so reassured that it's "medical doctors" that are going to be used. You all should be nice and safe. "The highest form of intelligence" after all
