Yes, I just read that too. Does anyone know how good the sound quality is on the Davis at Harmon Gymnasium recording? Williams is always worth reading
  7. When was that? My idea of heaven
  8. Thanks for the report, sounds worth a listen. I have most of his albums until a few years ago. Yeah, that shitshow
  9. That's a new one?
  10. Absolutely
  11. By coincidence, a friend just sent me this link https://www.bonhams.com/auction/30318/lot/62P/rory-gallagher-the-legendary-1961-fender-stratocaster-electric-guitar-serial-no-64351-stamped-on-neckplate-guitar-38-12in-98cm-long/ £900k !!
  12. Love that album This one
  13. Oh that's a shame. I knew nothing about her until someone posted here (possibly Kevin Bresnahan) about her illness and a fundraising effort to support her. I bought her latest LP in response and it came with a lovely note from Claire thanking me for the support. The music's great but that seemed almost like a trifle at the time. I'll play it in her memory.
  14. Thanks, I'll educate myself. I very much liked 'Transgression'.
  15. Borbetomagus, a band I read about in the Wire a lot but have never listened to. Anyone who's in a band called Sick Dick & the Volkswagens deserves to be celebrated and mourned I'll listen to the linked music, thanks
  16. I'd have liked to make it to that. I saw Satori first about 3 years ago and was equally impressed, just a trio then. About a year ago I saw them with Alcyona Mick in piano, which was good but I missed the space of the trio music. The Satori trio albums are really good I think. Davies is also very good in the Full Circle Quartet if you're interested. I put Satori in my recent BFT here, got some interesting responses.
  17. This is a really interesting release. It's easy to forget that Wilkins is still only 27 and on this album the promise of his previous releases starts to be more fully realised I feel Also, he's a very generous leader, perhaps too much so as he's nowhere near a dominant instrument voice, his compositional voice is doing the heavy lifting here Well done Blue Note for getting behind him
  18. Yeah, I'm beginning to think about a core collection whittled down from the 2000 LPs, maybe 500? Similar numbers for CDs.
  19. Thanks, that's good to know
  20. I shall do

  22. I didn't realise they were reissued on CD officially. I have the set on LP but would be interested in supplementing some with CD copies, especially if they're remastered?
  23. Suits you Sir...
