Brotzmann, Adasiewicsz, Noble, Edwards @ Oto tonight. all being well

It's out and very good. I picked it up from Oto yesterday and played it twice straight off. Parker's tenor is magisterial throughout, unhurried and vital. It's a very immediate live recording which puts you right there with all three trio members. Recommended

You're looking at $60 if you want one online now so the 2cd option has got to be the answer. Good on AUM for sorting it out. One thing's for sure from that source it will be produced with care and attention

Laila Lalami - The Moor's Account lots of good things written about this and Pullitzer and Booker prize nominations to add to the buzz. the idea of telling the story of Conquistadors from the perspective of one of their African slaves is interesting. The writing however won't flow for me. It's as if it's a translation which self-evidently it isn't. I'll persevere

The show that launched the Branson empire! Amon Duul II and Boys of the Lough on the same show!!!! And here's the one where I first heard Genesis: Spooky reading these over 40 years on. What I find interesting about those lists is how most of the bands and musicians on these lists are still held in a degree of high regard and/or considered influential (with the exception of Genesis ). Now is this because Peel and producers were good at spotting music that would leave a legacy or is it because, more likely, the legacy is a product of being played on the show and the people writing about music today are doing so with a hindsight informed by their listening to Peel

I don't see the publisher blurb shouting from the rooftops that it's authorised or involves Grimes in any way. Wouldn't they be making that point if it were? found a brief seemingly enthusiastic reference to it on Grimes' website which at least might suggest he's not unhappy with it

Just watched it and came to post the same thing. To think this is the end of This Is England is a crying shame. One of the great chronicles of Britain in the late 20th Century. Continues the tradition of realist TV drama that holds a mirror to society in general, asks questions of it and holds it to account I now want to rewatch all the series from the beginning It will be fascinating to see what Meadows does next

Alexander Von Schlippenbach, Evan Parker, Paul Lovens - Detto Fra Di Noi, Live in Pisa 1981 [Po Torch] the third new arrival's debut play. This is possibly my favourite 'band' in Jazz and improvised music. Pleased to finally afford a copy of this which doesn't disappoint

Andre Jaume - Saxanimalier [Hat Hut] Heinz Becker, Louis Sclavis, John Lindberg - Transistion [FMP] two recent arrivals getting their first airing. The Jaume has a very impressive bass clarinet piece and 'Transition' owes something to Giuffre to these ears
