They do keep 'em coming don't they. I was initially very taken by the first Day in Pictures but it has faded for me (I really enjoy Bauder in Memorize the Sky). I posted elsewhere how I struggle with Davis's Capricorn Climber of which I had high hopes so like Xybert I may try the trio. As I generally enjoy Delbecq's recordings the Hebert looks tempting. I'll admit to waiting for Clean Feeds to hit Spotify these days so I can sample. I'm just listening to the Pascal Niggenkemper Vision 7 from the last batch - vocalist is currently generating a case of "Irene Aebi flight syndrome" in me

I tried this in google - CD Baby "Rich Perry" - only two titles, neither leader dates. So I tried this google search - "CD Baby" "Rich Perry" and got one more non-leader date I'm not sure how that helps.......but it is less than 138

ooooohh! Nice FMP vinyl! Golia is perennially under-recognized but he is still a great player. The recorded start of that wonderful Lacy-Waldron connection: New Jazz/OJC LP. I'm only just discovering Golia. A couple of older dates on vinyl (one with John Carter) led me to try a 2011 CD and all good. Problem is Nine Winds distrib isn't great here so further investigation hampered by postage/customs costs. Carpathes is as good as I'd hoped. Not cheap but worth it

Vinny Golia Trio - ...in the right order...[Nine Winds]

New Lehman Octet, Very exciting. One of the best live shows of recent years and the first Cd's special in many ways

I bet that's a good listen? It is, although not a grab you by the lapels album. I think Side 2 is the stronger. I've listened to this several times now, and like it more each time. There is that sense of higher artistic aims about it. Just listened to the long 18 min title track 'on youtube. Tasty - Lindberg and Barker really lay it down. You feel side two is even stronger - definitely added to the 'wants list'

One I'll d/l at the weekend. It's always been quite a low key group. I wish someone would record Nikki Iles band 'The Printmakers' in which Norma sings. Although a group that would fit comfortably on ECM, people like Mark Lockheart and Mike Walker add a muscularity that suits: your wish......I haven't listened to the podcast but the blurb says 'recording' http://www.londonjazznews.com/2013/04/podcast-interview-with-nikki-iles-band.html I'm sure I've read somewhere else that the recording's coming out I think on Editions but I can't find a reference anywhere Edit: to add, found the reference http://www.londonjazznews.com/2013/12/printmakers-cd-for-autumn-2014-release.html looks like Basho Records are making your wish come true

Is that one you got from that shop we discussed? Very nice! This might be even lesser seen than most of the others. That's the one. I was walking out the door empty handed when I glanced up at the wall display....hey presto. I picked up the Rufus, Jazz Comp Orch and the Ted Curson at the same time. I left very pleased it was raining heavily had been the only reason I sought out the shop in the first instance!

duets with percussionist George Cross McDonald. Wonderful and now with Carter and Altschul. More wonderful

Kris Davis Capricorn Climber - 1/14/14

"and almost obtuse at times" is how I've heard the album. Really want to like it as I like the musicians involved but I just can't warm to it (after several listens). The opportunity to hear the music played live would I suspect help unlock it for me. Send 'em over to the UK for me , Steve -
90s remaster. This rarely gets an airing and listening again I hear why. I don't hear Lacy and Cherry as a sympathetic pairing. Higgins is the star for me.

Goes to the desert island with me when I'm finally sent thet way

I don't know how widely known he was but to those of us who enjoyed the UK Acid Jazz scene of the 80s he was a voice to be heard. Appreciation here http://www.mojo4music.com/11098/ronny-jordan-1962-2014/ 51 is way too young

The LP of this. Floros Floridis, Ilias Papadopoulos, Peter Kowald - Pyrichia [Ano Kato Records]. Intriguing combination with Papadopoulos playing lyre followed by Edward Vesala - Bad Luck Good Luck [Leo records] Vesala powering UMO with Stanko and Aaltonen out front

and then Black Swan Quartet - s/t [Minor Music]

I had tickets to see Alice Coltrane's first London appearance in more than twenty years April 2007. The band was Haden, Roy Haynes and Ravi which let's face it was enticing to say the least Sadly she died in January

I saw that footage too and couldn't help but think what a thankless task those two percussionists had making themselves heard against Hendrix and the rest of the band. They looked like they were expending a lot of energy trying to too. Electrifying footage nonetheless

Thanks Jeff. I'll keep an eye out for that one too

David Eyges - The Captain (Chiarascuro) I'd come across his playing with Cecil McBee and took a punt on a still sealed copy of this. Glad I did. It's way better than the cover suggests Can anyone out there comment on either of his LPs with Byard Lancaster?

This is sad indeed. I've enjoyed many of his discs and I was due to see him play for the first time next month
