  1. Just what i didn't want to hear. The "selling fast" bit, that is. I saw that band a couple of years ago and they were excellent.Fully intend to purchase this budget (and now availability) willing. I'm a big fan of their Reknes recording on Circulasione Totale
  2. Thanks colin and kh. I'm a fan of jazz flute, Newton, Rivers, Kenyatta amongst others and Threadgill definitely so I think I may plug the gap
  3. Yep...you do! How's the Flutistry disc folks? it's the only one in the box i've not got
  4. first listen to a new arrival. Track 'Donna Lee' has the most abrupt fade, make that cut off (sounds like the band fell off a cliff) I've heard in a long while. Enjoying Pete Warren's contributions
  5. Original or was this reissued? Original or was this reissued? Mine's the original but I believe it got a Get Back reissue
  6. with Arthur Jones - a very big bonus
  7. Peter Brotzmann Chicago tentet +1 - 3 nights in Oslo five discs, two of the tentet+1, the other three a variety of configurations from the tentet personnel (saw this band in London earlier this week - stunning)

    Anthony Braxton

Thanks very much for posting this. looking forward to hearing it
  9. More likely that people who never wanted it before got it anyway when it went last chance... and they'll be enjoying a very rewarding musical surprise.....when they open the box
  10. I had to look twice but he's selling empty boxes for $$$ more than CDs - now that's what I call high pricing Would like Waldron's the Call that's listed at $20 cheaper than some of the empty boxes!
  11. Another great gone. Sublime singer, great live performer and songwriting par excellence. Leaves a big void. Thank you and RIP TC
  12. BBC broadcasting tribute tomorrow (monday) night http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01nj80g should be available for a week after on their iplayer service
  13. Now that does look interesting. i know Stahl from a couple of dates and Ljungkvist too - both interesting players. I'm intrigued by your Giuffre reference. Off to see what I can find....
  14. now that's the one No Business LP I have splashed out on. No regrets, lovely recording and great music
  15. reacquainting after 10 year absence in storage. could do without the hokey blues number - the rest, magnificent Really fancy that one and the tarfala on the same label - just wish they were a bit more affordable
  16. Hamiet Bluiett - Birthright. Copy sounds fine (occasional pop that I can live with so such great music) then we hit the quietest track and it's like the alien's are beaming in a signal - why wreck just the one track so much? Vinyl betrays no inkling of alien interference.
  17. yes, yes and yes again (mind you I don't even like the majority of them performed by the Beatles)
  18. No, this is so sad. and just not what i wanted to hear. Always loved his playing and was lucky to see him live with a marvellous quartet once. he played with such heart and soul and the world will be both poorer and quieter without him. RIP
  19. The Hepworth rotates the collection? great, another reason to return. What a fantastic gallery space and building. She deserves it, mind. Maybe make it back in time to catch the Miro
  20. Turner Monet Twombly at Tate Liverpool. beautiful exhibition, intelligently curated. Went to see the Twomblys and was not disappointed. he shone in such august company. The previous week saw exhibition of Camino Real series by Twombly at Gagosian Kings Cross
  21. Alternate takes (with rare exceptions)
  22. Very impressive live unit. If you have the chance take it, I'd say.

    Taylor Ho Bynum

Another fan here but with some reservations that his technique sometimes overshadows the music. Enjoyed him live with Braxton (Leo CD Royal Festival Hall) first, then with Convergence Qt and also Thirteenth Assembly. Other recordings not mentioned already that I've enjoyed: both Thirteenth Assembly albums; Middle Picture (Firehouse) is possibly my favourite of his leader dates; another duet with Fujiwara on Not Two. I blow hot and cold on the Spider Monkey Ensemble with hhis sister's spoken word. Fujiwara is also very impressive, very melodic drummer (and composer) - his leader dates on 482 impress I've got that Matana on Utech and never realised Ho Bynum was on it! Think I'll give Apparent Distance a spin right now.
