  1. That's really interesting, I've never thought about this but I've not many Enjas in a collection that really should have far more given the chronology and when I started buying/listening. There's few I've ever warmed to (whilst I have hundreds of ECMs), off the top of my head Sakata, Tolliver, Gary Thomas and a Woody Shaw. Count me intrigued.
  2. From being everywhere Moses seems to have slipped from the spotlight for a while now whilst his contemporaries make the waves. Perhaps he's working in something new. Sold on my copy of the album recently, kept three later ones
  3. The Rich Corpolongo Quartet plus Two - Just Found Joy [Delmark] Digging into my first listen, purchase prompted by @Eric's BFT selection It's tasty
  4. I think those are the ones they were trying to flog at inflated prices in 2014. See up thread
  5. The Schiaffini and De Paula are both highly recommended It is indeed, and I'm going to give it a spin today because of this thread
  6. Watched the first two. It's OK, some clunky exposition. I'll continue I think Many UK reviews called it slow, that was an attraction to me, I don't need everything to move on so quickly. Pacing is important.
  7. Mark Murphy - Midnight Mood [MPS, Japan 1979 RE] Mark Murphy - Sings [Muse, Japan 1983 RE]
  8. That's an old favourite, purchased on release I think. I must have seen Wheeler and Sulzman play together so many times back then, John Taylor a little less so but still enough On here now, something strongly connected and inspired by your recent posts Norma Winstone - Edge Of Time [Wah Wah Records, Spain 2012 RE]
  9. Thanks
  10. I'm checking this out as I rated the featured tune and I'm always up for another entry point into West Coast. I see Manne's credited with vocals, is that on many tracks?
  11. From her notes, "The idea to re-issue 'Edge Of Time's did not at first appeal to me. I felt that recording techniques had improved so much over the years, and I was not happy about my singing at that time anyway." She goes on to say "when I thought about that time...I remembered what a very vital time it was in Jazz" And concludes, "So after all I thought...why not?"
  12. Mjazzg track Track 3 'The Journey' from Tom Skinner's album 'Voices Of Bishara' https://intlanthem.bandcamp.com/album/voices-of-bishara Skinner's been an ever present in the new-ish London scene that's been making waves for about 10 years now. On this, short but sweet, album he calls on some of the more high profile names from the scene to create what I think is one of the better realised albums to emerge from the scene. The album is inspired by Abdul Wadud's album 'By Myself', an album generally well regarded here. I was pleased it received generally positive responses. I chose it to bring some exposure to some UK players. Nicely ID'd by @Dub Modalwhich didn't surprise me as he's one of the few contributors to the board who has posted positively about the London players Never heard of him but very pleased to make the acquaintance. I'll look to track it down. Thanks for the introduction. Edit to add:now purchased, very pleasantly surprised to find a cheap UK copy for sale
  13. Every time you listen to that I think I should track it down. I have just found it on Bandcamp!
  14. No, it's done with Norma's blessing, she writes notes for it

    Anthony Braxton

Latest Braxton box available from Tri Centric as a fundraiser perk https://fundrazr.com/tricentric-10-comp-lorraine?ref=ab_4DGmW9 Two different groups, trio and quartet. I ordered. Just reading back through the thread and see I wasn't overly impressed by box set releases nearly four years ago, lives and opinions change 😃
  16. Great, didn't know about that
  17. Darcy James Argue's Secret Society - Dynamic Maximum Tension
  18. Yes, I like it for the same reasons as you. I tend to buy everything Pope releases, he's an interesting new voice
  19. New name to me
  20. Popular here too
  21. Len Deighton - Berlin Game interspersed with selections from, The Translations Of Seamus Heaney

    Kip Hanrahan

    Now that's a great album

    Kip Hanrahan

I look forward to reading that. I have a copy of 'Conjure' somewhere, unlistened to for many years. I should dig it out. I have a friend who's a huge Hanrahan fan so I have heard a good number of his albums. I always seem to find the concept outways the execution. His use of Jack Bruce as a vocalist drives to the hills too.
  24. I have nothing but admiration for everyone posting in their non-native language. Especially given how accurate so many of you are at it, and even when not the meaning always comes across. Chapeau! I say that with some shame and regret as someone who can only speak one, luckily it's English.
  25. You've probably already thought of this but just in case you searched other than using Kevin Bresnahan's link, any official documentation is likely with the forename of William. I used William for Kevin Bresnahan's link and nothing came up
