  1. Not Buster and not the bass player's date
  2. Just finished all three series of Slow Horses in very short order
  3. Beautiful piece, as is a lot of Part's as far as I'm concerned
  4. I played my copy yesterday. Such a great listen
  5. As my suggestion earlier today seems to some extent to ignore both the solo and classical element of your request I thought I'd better make amends 😃 Here's a favourite (despite its overtly religious inspiration)
  6. Rob Mazurek Exploding Star Orchestra/Small Unit - Spectral Fiction [Corbett Vs Dempsey] A new Mazurek is always a good thing
  7. A couple of others that have come to mind. Both on ECM and not classical but fit within the sound world you're describing, perhaps? https://ecmrecords.com/product/akroasis-vassilis-tsabropoulos/ https://ecmrecords.com/product/raccolto-stefano-battaglia/ just realised you wanted solo, this is with a bass player
  8. UK TV presenter I enjoyed the selection too so thanks for posting it. Cor Blimey Guv'nor
  9. Or time to jump into Morton Feldman's world? This is a great set https://anothertimbre.bandcamp.com/album/morton-feldman-piano-box-set
  10. So Jay's a Selector now. I knew he dj'd in his spare/non-tv time
  11. This album? If so, I reckon you were correct on the evidence of this track
  12. Thanks Pim, I had no idea that's the way to do it. I've always tilted the bottle and glass to reduce the head, I shan't anymore 😃
  13. I liked those Strut Malombo Jazz reissues but I thought the one on Tapestry Works is the best
  14. Jason Roebke Four - Spheres [Corbett Vs Dempsey] Studied not rushing, interesting. I like all Roebke's leader dates, this is different, more improv less written I'll hazard a guess. Pianist Mabel Kwan and drummer Marcus Evans are new names to me which is often a good thing This and the new Mazurek on CvsD arrived yesterday
  15. Definitely worth celebrating! But Hyderabad, even more so!! I'm interested why you pour the Duvel with so much head (foam). I know that in Europe beers are not poured from the bottle like we do in the UK but that's all head and no beer 😃
  16. It's not shortsighted of them if they've proven it's a sound model that fits today's market no matter how it may annoy or dismay those of us who want a complete performance released or who refuse to buy vinyl. We can double guess the label as much as we like but they are on their 4th or 5th release in this format so one can only guess they're doing well enough to continue. Relatively short runs of higher priced vinyl is the way of much of the reissue market, and some new releases, functions now whether we like it or not, or are just indifferent.
  17. Laurie Johnson - Synthesis [Columbia/EMI, UK 1970] Really enjoying my first listen to this, not too sure how much of a synthesis is achieved between the Jazz and classical writing but their juxtaposition is effective Thanks to @sidewinderfor the tip up thread
  18. I'd always assumed they are legitimate. It's the editing that I find strange, less so the LP only editions, that's just how the market is now. The Pharaoh is in very good sound quality
  19. Gruppo Romana Free Jazz - 1966-67 [Vedette, Italy 1977]
  20. Roberta Flack - Lost Takes [Arc Records, UK 2023] Lovely
  21. Prior engagement means I'll have to miss this, a shame
  22. Harry Beckett's Joy Unlimited - Got it Made [Ogun, UK 1977]
  23. Yes indeed, goes way beyond the "complicated". Nothing to be celebrated here I'd say, good riddance.
  24. Very, very good that one
