The first Commodores I heard, in about 1977. Great album

Online sources, quoting family reporting this sad news. Dead at 45. Not too sure how much he means to too many here but I saw him rip it up with Glasper a few years ago. He also played in later Stefon Harris groups and lots of others along the way.

Thanks, I bought one of the Zim nights as a download as I think it was the one I saw at Cafe Oto, which also means I probably heard Matlock that night. It was a great night's music that's for sure

I've just received my CD set, first two discs going down very well. And I agree about Matlock who is a new name to me who'll I'll be seeking more of

I stopped listening to them very early, at 'Curtains', and I'm not sure why now at this distance. So my favourite remains the first one. My interest is piqued again so I think I'll stream some of the later ones. Obviously you rate 'Simple Pleasure' highly as you post it often so I'll start there. Which other later one would you suggest I try?

I loved their first couple of albums then cooled on them. They're playing in London this year, I'm tempted That really is special. Can still remember hearing it for the first time, heaven

Fabulous film

I bought a copy of that yesterday, same Insta post as inspiration perhaps

I think that's a fabulous release, admittedly after only one listen. The drumming on 'Africa' is almost worth the entry cost alone Rough Trade and Dixieland, not a pairing I'd ever imagined. Good use of fire drill time though, well done!
