  1. That's been on my want list for a long time
  2. Good to hear they're still going. Has Le-Le been in CD, it did just get an LP reissue recently
  3. 🤣 Absolutely, especially these days. Still love all his early-mid period though, before it got a bit cantankerous
  4. Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra - The Thompson Fields taken me too long to finally get this. Ended up buying the download as the CD price is steep. Prompted by this article in the Guardian today https://www.theguardian.com/music/2024/feb/15/jazz-composer-maria-schneider-david-bowie-cracked-me-maybe-not-in-a-good-way
  5. Count me in for this one
  6. Dug both LPs out for a spin today prompted by your posts, such great music
  7. Surely the impact for those offended by the trigger is not as great as the impact on those people of colour who are impacted by the racist language? The trigger's an irritant for some, the racist language a lot more than that for those affected
  8. Thanks, 6 CDs does sound more in my ballpark too. I also agree about including radio announcements, annoying to me in most cases
  9. Thanks. I've just been chatting with a friend who has it. I may have to borrow it, 14 CDs seems a bit too much of a deep dive straight off
  10. Oh Yes!!! Now streaming I don't know why (although I did have them down as an electric Miles tribute act) but I have completely ignored Nucleus until recently when I bought 'Labyrinth' mostly because Norma Winstone's on it. Now investigating them chronologically, this is very good isn't it? Sounds not unlike the Graham Collier albums of this time that I love so much.
  11. But 46 regulars at $40pa doesn't seem beyond hope? I'd be happy to commit to that
  12. I like that one. His was impressive, as always, at the Brotzmann memorial gig
  13. Beware those "funky disco rock rhythms", death of real Jazz...
  14. Hiroshi Fukumara Quintet - Morning Flight [Three Blind Mice, Japan 1977 RE]
  15. I was and that duet was a very special start to a very special evening Plenty of posters available but McPhee was quite busy
  16. Decompressing from this. The finale was a large ensemble playing with Longberg-Holm's lightbox conduction Front line was Evan Parker, Joe McPhee, Zoh Amba, Ken Vandermark and Mats Gustafsson. I saw the Chicago Tentet at Oto ten years ago, this was up there with it as a listening experience The whole evening was very, very special. It started with McPhee/Adasiewicsz duet where Joe recited poetry rather than play sax. Unexpected but very special
  17. Charles Mingus - Mingus Takes Manhattan [New Land, UK 2024] Onto LP3
  18. Interestingly, or not, the Special Thanks in the booklet starts with Sue Mingus so maybe she was involved with the project And there's plenty available these days and not at mad prices the last I looked
  19. That's great news, instant purchase. I just read this which suggests there may be more releases to come, hope so "in 2024 they’ve partnered with The John & Alice Coltrane Home to launch the “Year of Alice;” described as a “year-long celebration of Alice Coltrane’s profound work.” They’re kicking things off with Alice Coltrane – The Carnegie Hall Concert
  20. Me too now 😀
  21. Thanks, sadly chronic condition so just have to live with it. Had plenty of practice.
  22. I bought the non-art edition and it's very good. That special edition does look nice though
  23. Wow, how did I miss that gig?
  24. Only the Saturday evening, boring health issues are restricting me otherwise I'd be camping there for the weekend
