  1. That's probably my favourite of them all. 'Christmas from a hooker in Minneapolis' is genius, pure Waits. I think I began to lose interest because the rock element began to predominate a bit more.
  2. I know them all up to the end of that trilogy, then I stopped being so attentive
  3. I know, they've been pushing it on Instagram, I've stayed away...so far. I agree, the selection has been top notch
  4. Dead ones...
  5. I usually don't mind the 45rpm reissues, I have a few of the Blue Note Music Matters that sound great, but I'm not sure I want to break up the continuity of the music on this album anymore than just the once on a 33rpm LPs I have (two different pressings). Or not at all, as on my CD. That said, I'd love to hear what this sounds like
  6. Not yet she doesn't, I'm holding you in reserve!
  7. Fine album, an early one in my Jazz listening. I hear you about him, I think Ulmer is all kind of different but also rooted in some pretty deep tradtion. Fascinating musician. Wish I had seen him live sometime.
  8. Joe Henderson - The Elements [Milestone, 1974] and before John Haycock - Dorian Portrait [Second Thoughts Records, UK 2023, 2nd pressing] Sound tactics @HutchFan, my partner's even stopped raising her eyebrows...but if she does I'll just show her @Pim's recent post about his Japanese delivery 🙄
  9. Thanks for the tip off.
  10. I've found out more about the film but not about the soundtrack, streamable here if you are at all interested https://cinedelic.bandcamp.com/album/gangsters-70
  11. Egisto Macchi - Gangsters '70, ost [Cinedelic Records, Italy 2023] I'd love to know more about this soundtrack. Some great free-ish Jazz throughout. Only person credited other than Macchi is Walter Branchi which was a recommendation in itself. Paging @Teasing the Korean, any ideas? Purchased solely on speck off the description on Honest Jon's website.
  12. Harry South Big Band - Presenting [Mercury, UK 1966] So good

    Billy Harper

The only time I've seen Harper. Thanks to Gilles Peterson who arranged the great night
  14. Thanks a lot
  15. The seller has three others so these may be just the first instalment
  16. The first Japanese issue, I think
  17. And the fact that the new logo looks like a dystopian proto-fascist organisation's armband symbol doesn't help a lot either. Which Jazz insta accounts do you recommend?
  18. Are they considered so, I had no idea. that's good to hear. I just took a Discogs punt as they scratch a musical itch
  19. 'Patterns', you lucky man you! Hope it's a nice walk
  20. Poor grading, such a pain Today's arrivals, hoping they're well graded
  21. Tasty lineup, thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware of it.
  22. Yes and Yes, so pleased to see them mentioned. Love Jay Farrar's work, such a shame he never comes to the UK. Son Volt's recent Doug Sahm tribute is a killer. And of course, let's add Doug Sahm to the playlist too
  23. I think they're pricing off Discogs, currently £89 - £122, without VAT added. Current highest price sold is £89, median £49. I don't deny it's mad but it's where the market's got to unfortunately. Mind you, it hasn't sold 😁 Is the album any good? Not sure I have heard it.
  24. Not so compared to current Discogs listings I didn't think but maybe I didn't check closely enough. I bought a couple of those one-offs and they at least compared ok Ha! That makes me even more inclined to do the same All this chat about this I had to listen to my copy, a Liberty. No sound issues yet
