Chick Webb Mosaic Set announced
Blue Train replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Chuck: 1. I got your post, I am just not interested in spending that kind of money for what they're doing. 2. Don't worry....Nessa records might be the top per quality/quantity label that I know. That was brought to my attention with your recent Nessa records FB post. I either have it, or have access to it through Pops. I didn't even realize Ben Webster, Eddie Johnson, or Lucky Thompson recorded for you. I am going to have to buy those. P.S. My youngest sister (she is only 6) likes parts of Snurdy McGurdy and Her Dancin' Shoes. Some of it she gets all "confuseded" what is going on and will make a "no likey" face. Hey, she's 6! She will even get up and dance to parts of it. I am sure you can guess what parts. So, you might have a future Nessa Records buyer in standby... P.P.S. If I might make a suggestion. You need to update the Nessa records official page. http://www.nessarecords.com/catalog/ Sorry to everyone else for hijacking the thread. -
While I find your recent passive aggressive thing of pretending you're not responding to me....while all the while they're meant for me to be funny....and while I realize you're the Ultimate of Homers....many parts of this post really makes no sense, or are just completely wrong based on actual facts that can't be changed. Against Seattle in Seattle is understandable. Against Indy, not so much. But hey, it's a good thing they got rid of Alex Smith, right? You bet. Alex Smith is a statue in the pocket and panics on 3rd and long. He had eight years to prove himself and got benched in favor of Kaepernick who actually has an arm and can run and shoot. Niners' biggest problem is tackling and piss poor play calling. OC Greg Roman is an idiot. Smith's Chiefs have beaten two tomato cans and one pretender [Dallas]. Let's see what he can do against the likes of the Colts or Broncos. Besides, it's a three game season. The Niners went 11-5 last year [even after three straight losses with Smith at the helm] and went to the Super Bowl. The refs lost that game for the Niners with that dumbass non-call on some obvious holding in the end zone. Kaepernick is legit.

I was watching the Orioles/Rays game. Manny Machado's injury looked really ugly. Hopefully, no ligaments were involved. The Yankees' injured plagued season continues. This time it's C.C. Sabathia. It was already his worst season as a starter. He's not pitching again until next season.

Chick Webb Mosaic Set announced
Blue Train replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Chuck: As I said, I already have access to everything (including the CDs) of everything in this set. If I am going to spend $136+....I don't want what a certain label(s) in Europe does with Mosaic sets. Anyway, it just means I can use that $136+ for other things like future Nessa releases. -
No spoilers, but I really hated the series finale of Dexter.

Chick Webb Mosaic Set announced
Blue Train replied to miles65's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
My guess is this is going to be one Mosaic set that will take a good time period before it is put on the running low/last chance list....especially @ $136 + shipping....and the later is now even more outside the U.S. It's the first one I won't even bother with until I find it in a used bin. -
Against Seattle in Seattle is understandable. Against Indy, not so much. But hey, it's a good thing they got rid of Alex Smith, right? The Colts also have the better QB and Smith is not only having a better season than Colin Kaepernick....he's 3-0 with the Chiefs Last year Kaepernick and the read option were unknown....the later helped both Kapernick and RGIII. The Seahawks and Chiefs also have better defenses (the Seakhaws are #1 defensively) than the Niners this year....and that was before Aldon Smith being out an indefinite time period....

For @ least one week...the Browns and their fans are once again screwed. As in, both the Browns and Colts win.

75 million to 131 million in the weakest division in all baseball in the weaker league to 2 WS in 4 years. Now they're going back to every so often they're relevant....unless as you consider it....they once again decide to buy a WS. -
You can't make this post up....and from someone who is supposedly Pro-Union.

Mariano Rivera Day. Say what you want about the Yankees....but they know how to do things right. Everyone was wondering if Metallica would change Enter to Exit for Enter Sandman. Right now....he has 44 saves and tied for 2nd and he's retiring....and he came back from ACL surgery @ 43 to do it. He has @ least 2-years left to put teams asleep. Class act by the Giants. Willie Mays....the anti-Barroid! P.S. Rachel Robinson in the house. He's the last player that will ever wear 42. P.P.S. Hard to believe Rachel Robinson is 91!

Fred Hersch Interview
Blue Train replied to Mark Stryker's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
And he's had HIV/AIDS since the mid-80's/early 90's and even went into coma in 2008 for a couple month (it got so bad he needed a tracheotomy and feeding tube) after a bought of AIDS related dementia and had to "relearn" to play again. The easy life. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/magazine/31Hersch-t.html?pagewanted=all P.S. Not liking someone's playing/music is one thing....bringing up how rich/poor/whatnot as a reason....seriously? -

The Giants went from a payroll of $75 million to $131 million in 4-years (in the process going from middle of the pack to top 5 in payroll) and won 2 WS in the process, but they're somehow different the others. You can't make that up. P.S. Lincecum will either be coming off the books as well, or greatly reduced from his current $22 million....as well as others pushing them back to $84-90+ million...and back to normal. It would be lower if not for the idiotic 9-year contract for Posey. -
The last thing Selig, or the Yankees wanted is someone he wanted to ban for life, or they wanted off their payroll is Mr. April passing The Iron Horse. Replacing one of the most beloved players in MLB/Yankees history with one of the most despised/controversial in recent time? Someone who only Barroid will have a bigger asterisk next to his name. Yeah, that makes sense.
-
You do get there is an entire appeals process and it's now completely out of the hands of Selig? It will be up to the arbitrator. Per usual in these situations; it won't happen for a while and any suspension won't take effect until next year. That was all reported from the beginning. If it were up to Selig; he would have banned Mr. April for life, or he would already be suspended....but Mr. April appealed...there is this thing called the CBA that covers all this....not a single unusual thing than every other similar situation has occurred with regards to Mr. April. The only unusual thing that happened this time, is all the rest accepted their suspensions instead of appealing like normal....but of course, the rest were on teams not going anywhere this year....and not as narcissistic/full of shit like Mr. April, and Barroid before him. P.S. The Yankees would love to be able to get rid of Mr. April and get him off their payroll.

They were hydrogen bombs, which makes an atomic bomb out to be conventional in comparison. To give you an idea. You need an atomic explosion to set off the hydrogen explosion. An atomic explosion is an fission and hydrogen would be fusion like the sun. America has had all kinds of Broken Arrows (as they're called) disasters here and abroad. Most (including the thermonuclear stage) of one of the Goldsboro bombs is still buried there. There were two incidents with actual explosions and large scale contamination. The 1966 Palomares accident which happened during a refueling of a 5-52. It was carrying 4 B28 hydrogen bombs. Three of them landing in Palomares....with two of them resulting in a non-nuclear explosion, which resulted in 650 acres being contaminated. Even though they dug up all the soil and went a couple feet deep....there is still traces of radiation to be found. The fourth one was eventually found in the sea close to 3 months later. Also the 1968 Thule accident....also involving 4 B28 hydrogen bombs and this time all 4 of them resulted in non-nuclear explosion and contamination. Of course, a higher rate of cancer in those areas as a result. The most recent incident would be the 1980 incident in Arkansas, which involved a W53 warhead, which was the most powerful warhead ever made. P.S. Something no one in Japan or America like to discuss.....a plane carrying a 1 megaton hydrogen bomb fell off an aircraft carrier into the Pacific Ocean not far from Okinawa. They never found it. There are actually several that are completely lost.

Aldon Smith in a single-veichile accident and arrested for a DUI. Ganja and pills were also found in his car. It's his 2nd DUI arrest in two years. You can be sure the NFL will be suspending him when the dust settles....how long depends on if he get's charged for the drugs as well.

I also read this recently and it really motivated me to want to dig deeper into Blake's music. Monk did not seem like the kind of guy to throw these types of compliments around lightly. Monk also gave Blake piano lessons and Blake babysat Barbara Monk; so, you have to figure they were close...or, as close as Monk could get with anyone.

MLB's 13 Most Lopsided Midseason Trades
Blue Train replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I guess, it wasn't fair what the Giants, Red Sox and Phillies did as well? Somewhat interesting the Giants only won both their two WS when they started throwing around the benjamins.
