  1. It's pretty much a T&A show (there is a reason it's mostly set in Miami, or places bikinis fit in, and every female except the unbelievable mother always ends up in a bikini or tight outfits) with spy stuff. For a few seasons the plot and Campbell/Donovan and Sharon Gless in short doses made up for it. They took out the whole point of Campbell, made the mother a main character (did I mention unbelievable?)...then there was Jesse Porter character. Didn't even start on the anorexic lead that started out with an Irish accent...that disappeared to everything about her character became even more of a joke than the Jesse Porter one. There was even a jumping on the Battlestar Galectica bandwagon by bringing in Tricia Helfer in the 2nd season. Did I mention T&A and tight outfits? The only reason they're killing the show is because they had to pay for the Convention center that was the studio to be blown-up just to get a 7th season shot in Miami.
  2. "We turned at a dozen paces, for love is a duel, and looked at each other for the last time." He used Bea in the Original Scroll.
  3. Burn Notice started out fine (I only started watching because of Bruce Campbell), but jumped the shark after the first few seasons....and (just like Breaking Bad) they always leave out just enough on the the details others might want to use....this last season has been terrible. Though nowhere as bad as last year with John C. McGinley & Sonja Sohn.
  4. Anyone read Pete Rose's response to it? Pure Pete Rose.

  7. About to go out, the Spider-man/Batman theme song, which is is Boggie Stop Shuffle. How no one was sued and they're still using it for the Spider-man films.

  9. Thankfully, he was able to move his head enough for it to first hit the side of the helmet, which along with moving his head in the opposite direction...greatly dissipated the force to his jaw....and still ended up with a fracture in two places in his jaw.
  10. Remember reading about this a couple years ago. Pops collection is ridiculously huge but nowhere close to 3 million. As Stereojack points out there are a lot of problems with the story. The only actual store I know that come that close is As the Record Turns in Los Angeles, or has more is Bananas Music in St. Petersburg.
  11. Dimeadozen. Including the very first Piano Jazz. No links.
  12. Dimeadozen is getting crazy. No links.
  13. I was comparing it to to Mahler's others on why it's not played much....and I am not limiting it to the UK.
  14. Missed this. Word!

  18. Only Benny Golson, Sonny Rollins and Horace Silver are remaining from the Great Day in Harlem picture. Be well...
  19. Lot of people don't realize he started out writing westerns and several classic western films were adaptions of his short stories. As a friend pointed out on FB....his books read like screanplays, which explains why so many were adapted into films, or tv shows. Be well....
  20. Bonds wasn't drilled. He purposelessly put himself in a position to be hit....and even then....the time he was drilled on purpose....not anywhere as much in comparison to Mr. April. Walk a guy, or pitch to someone only a complete homer doesn't realize is on a major amount of PEDS and using elbow armor...both of which allowing him to do what he did....which he couldn't have done without? The pitchers are cowards, but never a bad word from you about Bonds, Armstrong, Paterno, etc...
  21. Well if you're going to use one of the most boring versions possible. Thankfully, I can't post I have gone into a coma and they can't wake me. You did your best.
  22. With Mahler's 6th. Looking at 80-82 minutes and there is the problem about what order to play the middle two movements. It doesn't get played much for a reason.
  23. Never cared for the Newport version. This one even less. I have read somewhere on here (could have been JSngry) that Duke would put people out there for that long as a sort of of punishment.
  24. The different revisions are puzzling (though a godsend to those who like squabbling about versions - you get to quibble about versions of versions). But I don't see how the size of the orchestration is a problem if you take the music on its own terms. I'd say Bruckner does a fine job balancing the passages where all is blazing, with beautifully delicate moments that can often be quite pastoral and serene. There's a lovely passage in the second movement of the Fifth where a flute picks up a theme from the first movement and just plays it achingly. And a recurring passage in the slow movement of the Eighth that sounds like Vaughan Williams! As for length, well I can see that as a problem for people who prefer shorter pieces. But people who like music that unfolds over a long period of time could do worse than persevere with Bruckner. The length is a big issue for those that have to pay for them being performed, which goes to why he's not as performed as much.
