Blue Train replied to sonnymax's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Leaving out the "Christopher McBride" thing, that might actually be the best lineup in my lifetime @ that festival. -

For those too dense to know what is going on, or going out of their way to start an agrugment..it's a Wake on place that has moved onto a single thread on here...it involves people who have known each other 5-7 years longer than this board even started.. I wasn't there when the Blue Note BB died and I am pretty sure it wasn't anywhere close to 15-17 years. Kübler-Ross, anyone? -

Considering his age, length of sentence, and no federal parole....I don't think anyone needs to worry about that. -

Just for the record. It was a former member of JC and current member from O that turned this ugly by taking a shot @ Lois. It wasn't those members from JC with cooties. The usual suspects took offense to those from JC taking offense to the attack. I was the one that informed Jim A about the O member's post in hopes of keeping it from getting ugly. For 15-years Lois paid out of her own pocket to keep that place going. Why she has done it for the last 5?....the only reason I can think of is because of these members with cooties. For over 15-17 years many of these people have posted there, or on JCS befoer that. Many of them have met in the real world and become friends only as a result of JC. Taking a shot at Lois during what is in essence part of the wake (many people probably no longer will be in contact with each other with it's demise)....over something that happened years ago. No way that wasn't going to not turn ugly. I am suppposed to be the young one and even I know what is going on with the JC members. -
Be well....

I am either going to have to be banned, or an intervention will be needed for Mr. ad hominem.

Zorn when he's not milking everything possible, or releasing things under his name he's not performing on all the while still milking....for what seems like a decade at this point. Yes. Also yes on The Stone. Metheny. Song X and his letter to Kenny G. -

So sick of the whole milking Masada/Book of Angels. At one time there was some seriously excellent recordings. Is it only me....or does it seem Zorn "composed" more Book of Angels compositions in a month, or was the whole 300 done in two months than Duke Ellington did in his entire career? He might have surpassed Bach at this point. Add in Metheny, and that's a snoozefest combination. Am I the only one that wonders why Zorn keeps releasing things under his name that he doesn't even perform on? -
Hoax, or pre-reality? I think it's the first time someone died soon after a hoax was started about them. At least I can't remember another instance. Elvin. There was an actual hoax started about Elvin Jones being dead, or one of those rush to be the first to report someone is dead before it's officially announced....like what goes on here....was jumping the gun?

Don Was on Blue Note
Blue Train replied to Lazaro Vega's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
Don Was is involved with Blue Note? That explains the next to nothing I have bought in years. I just thought it was the whole EMiI thing. I lost track. Does EMI still own Blue Note? Has EMI dropped that deep off the deep end that Don Was was put in charge of anything? -

Are we talking about Gregory Porter, or Tom Jones? -
It's not the accent that is the issue. Lived in so many places in mutliple continents (some of which they didn't even speak English) you couldn't even place my accent. Anyway, it's having to remember when they use different words that mean the same thing in different areas/countries/whatnot. It's espacially maddening when I go back and forth. Take example going from the UK to the States. You're used to thinking in one way....and next thing you know....Jetlag is much easier to deal with. Not even going near the whole remebering customs.
