  1. It was the last released album, but it was actually recorded before Abbey Road.
  2. Well, we will be seeing the Golden Boy/Art Blakey show on Saturday night after all. I'm really looking forward to this! David, I will try to say hello after the set if I get a chance. If any other board members happen to be at the 8:30 show I'd love to meet you as well!
  3. Huh? Can you explain that one?
  4. Reports are that Joe D was trying to make a trade all summer but could not close a deal. Piston players should not be "wondering," Joe D served notice on ALL of them at close of last season when Pistons lost Eastern Finals again. Trade had nothing to do with start record this season. :bwallace2: Okay, but... I think when you make a trade like this you do it because A. it's a slam dunk for your team OR B. you're writing off the season and you're jockeying for next years FA's by shedding contracts. Well I don't think it's a slam dunk but I can see why the trade makes sense if Dumars wants to position the Pistons for a big name FA signing next summer. Obviously, getting rid of Billups contract is key for that strategy to work. And AI's $20M comes off the books at the end of the season. Which to me says that he's writing off this season which I find curious when they were only two games into it at the time of the trade. Doesn't Kwame's come off the books too? Pistons could have some $$ to play with.
  5. Well, those songs comes from the Metallica era I like the least...but if those are the tracks that jumped out then you should check out their 1991-1997 output: Metallica (aka The Black Album), Load, Re-Load & Garage Inc. (Hero Of The Day is on Load, Whiskey In The Jar is on Garage Inc.) The "real deal" however is the 80's material: Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets & ...And Justice For All...but that's also alot heavier and thrashier than the songs you mentioned. You might also give their new album Death Magnetic a spin, it's kind of a cross between the 80's & 90's material. Thanks Shawn. Yeah, I'm not really interested in the heavier/thrash stuff any more (though I certainly had my moments with that as a teenager). I'll check out some of their 90's stuff. For some reason I like heavy bands when they do lighter, more melodic stuff. It's knowing their capable of the lighter stuff that impresses me.
  6. Need an expert opinion here... I've never owned any Metallica before, but I've recently heard a couple of Metallica songs that I really like for some reason, but I'm guessing they're atypical songs for them - "Hero of the Day" and their cover of "Whiskey in the Jar". If I like these tracks, but really don't get into too much harder metal, are there any Metallica albums I'd like? Kinda funny, since I liked Motohead in my teen years, but never picked up on Metallica when they started big.
  7. I agree with just about all of your comments Al! My post was kinda rhetorical, but I had to get it off my chest. It's frustrating having Jerry Jones doing two jobs - one quite well, and one quite awful. The Cowboys are actually quite lucky that Tony Romo panned out, or we'd still be turning over QBs like Chad Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf, Quincy Carter, and other Jones reaches.
  8. Hot Club of Detroit - Night Town Carrie Rodriguez - She Ain't Me
  9. I think if I were Jerry Jones the owner of the Cowboys, here's what I'd do today: 1. Fire Jerry Jones the GM. 2. Fire Wade Phillips. 3. Let Jason Garrett coach the remainder of the season, just to see if he's HC material (I'm thinking he may not be). 4. Fire DC Brian Stewart, and let Campo be DC for the remainder of the season. 5. Make a STRONG ($) run at Bill Cowher in the offseason, or someone who coaches with passion and fire and makes players accountable. 6. Cut Brad Johnson yesterday. 7. Bring in some young developmental guy (Bartel?) as a backup QB and let him and Bollinger duke it out for 2nd place 8. Hope that Tony Romo's finger is sufficiently healed for him to be able to pass, otherwise opponents will continue stacking their D's against the run, since the pass offense will continue to scare nobody.
  10. Going to be hard to picture Iverson in a Pistons uni. And Billups in a Nuggets uniform for that matter. This is the 3rd time McDyess has been a Nugget though, lol.
  11. I want one of those!!!
  12. I think that cost them the game, too. And I was rooting for the Pats tonight (football-pool-wise, anyway!).
  13. I think Texas had to have been tired from having played Oklahoma, Missouri, Ok State, and Tech back to back. That's a tough stretch. They've got Baylor, Kansas, and A&M left on their schedule. Should be 3 more wins on their slate, though Kansas may give them a bit of a game. They should finish 11-1. Tech has a two tough games coming up - Ok State then Oklahoma. If they come out of that with two wins, they'd have to be a contender for the title game, regardless of whoever else is still standing, I'd almost think. Funny thing about Tech is how everyone has proclaimed Mike Leach to be some offensive genius, and yet he's really only running the old 80's Run & Shoot offense basically. They just do it well.
  14. Wow - Texas Tech beat #1 Texas tonight! Amazing ending to a game where they had a big lead, Texas clawed their way back into it to take a lead toward the end of the 4th quarter, and then Tech came back with a scoring pass from Harrell to Crabtree with 1 second left. The Tech fans were going crazy, storming the field and tearing down goalposts, but there was still time on the clock. Biggest win in Tech history - where will they be ranked come Monday?
  15. Conspicuously absent? Yes. Missed? No. LOL! So he got wrapped up in a game of chess last night eh? Seriously, what does *SHE* offer that we don't??
  16. PM sent on a couple titles.
  17. Is this a Jay & Silent Bob flick? Or do they at least make a cameo, since you mention Mewes?
  18. I was pretty impressed with this one as well. Well worth picking up.
  19. Alejandro Escovedo is opening for Los Lonely Boys here on Sunday, at an outdoor concert pavilion. Debating whether it's worth the LLB ticket prices to see AE. I don't really have much interest in seeing Los Lonely Boys, though I'm sure they're pleasant enough. Has anyone seen Escovedo in concert?
  20. Skip the 3 small boxes and get the one big one!
