  1. ME ! Good for those days when you are needing a concentrated dose of Elvin.. I listen to all three discs when I pull it out. It's a good 'un!
  2. Let me know what you think of the "new" live album that is coming out next week on Verve, "Live at Mr. Kelly's". I'm sure you'll be picking that one up since you're a big fan. Edit - Oops, that's on your label too, isn't it.
  3. Thanks to Ubu ( ) I placed a larger Hat order than I should have, from discplus.ch: Clusone 3 - Rara Avis Marc Copland - And... Marc Copland - Haunted Heart Guillermo Gregorio - Degrees of Iconicity Lee Konitz - Thingin Steve Lacy - We See Thelonious Monk Songbook Joe McPhee - Oleo Myra Melford - Even the Sounds Shine Max Nagl - Big Four Matthew Shipp - By the Law of Music Taku Sugimoto - opposite Sun Ra - Sunrise in Different Dimensions Cecil Taylor - One Too Many Salty Swift and Not Goodbye Mike Westbrook - Rossini John Zorn - Cobra Studio/Live edit - sheesh, I think I already own the Zorn set, in its previous packaging.
  4. I put a disc in my cart out of curiousity, and the economy shipping to the U.S. seems to be €3.82. Two discs = €6.05. It goes up on a sliding scale.
  5. 1010? Isn't that the One After 909?
  6. Talk about single handedly beating the Pistons - he scored 29 of the last 30 Cav points. That's unbelievable! edit - will be interesting to see what he's got left in the tank for Game 6.
  7. LBJ shoulda driven to the basket with 6 seconds left in the first OT, instead of taking that shot that didn't hit anything. And the Cavs shouldn't have wasted that timeout, might have been able to use it to set up a game winning shot there.
  8. That's kind of bothersome, if you consider that Austin is probably the most progressive, open-minded city in Texas.
  9. I was told that they don't give tours of Abbey Road studios is that correct ? It's an active studio, I think they don't want the disruption of tourists walking through while they're recording.
  10. Wiesbaden is a beautiful (and relatively wealthy) city! My high school graduation was held in the Kurhaus, actually. And I have seen a few classical performances in their large hall. I don't recall any jazz type performances when I lived in Wiesbaden, though. There's also a casino inside the Kurhaus - old fashioned European style, dress code enforced.
  11. The only way to insert a picture is for it to be on the web somewhere, with a URL. So you can find an existing picture out there somewhere, or if it's your own picture, you can upload it to one of the hosting websites (imageshack etc) and use that URL when you insert the image (using the "tree" button when you're typing your post).
  12. I have all his leader dates except for Soul Connection, which still isn't on CD (to my knowledge). Would love to get that one.
  13. With his salary, you'd have a difficult time fielding a great team around him, wouldn't you? Isn't that part of the problem in LA? I'd rather spread my salary $$ around for solid team players than for one overpriced superstar and a bunch of Smush Parkers.
  14. A hospital that is partially named "Miseri" isn't a good thing. RIP Hank!
  15. Happy Birthday!!
  16. I don't know if he's "great" or not, but still a fine player. Tributaries is a nice acoustic '78 guitar session with Scofield and Joe Beck. Another I like alot is his "Bolero/Scheherezade", a solo guitar recording, which is difficult to find. I agree with BF's recommendation of the more recent "Tricycles", as well as "Electric", with Victor Bailey and Lenny White. The latter has a number of covers - So What and Footprints, alongside Sex Machine, Black Dog, and Born Under a Bad Sign. One other recent recommendation is "Three Guitars", another acoustic session with John Abercrombie and Badi Assad.
  17. Did it fall on top of Nancy Grace? Guy One can only hope!
  18. Aww c'mon, don't you confuse them constantly like I do?
  19. What did Ginobili do that is suspension worthy? I know nobody outside of Spurs fans likes him, but I didn't see him do anything to merit suspension, or even a T or an ejection. I do agree the T's on Fisher were questionable though - the first bump should have just been a non-call. The second T was a hard foul or something, but still didn't seem like a T to me. Not sure what Sloan said to get his ejection, so it's hard to say whether it was deserved or not. Duncan had a poor game, Parker was just ok, and Ginobili was average (but did well from the line in the 4th). And they still won this one.
  20. Try the Clusone 3, or some Jimmy Giuffre - Free Fall or the '61 material.
  21. ...bumping this up because the sequel comes out in about 2 weeks - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Could be interesting, or could be bad - it looks more about the Surfer than it does about the F4. Here's some strange marketing too - I don't think I like our currency being used like this. I guess since it's the Franklin Mint it's an "after market" deal, but still - isn't defacing currency like this (and putting it into circulation) illegal? Silver Surfer U.S. quarter minted Limited edition coin put into circulation Hollywood really does mint money. In an unprecedented marketing move, 20th Century Fox and the Franklin Mint have created a Silver Surfer U.S. quarter that has been put into limited circulation in advance of the release of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer." Pic bows in the U.S. on June 15. In recent days, a total of 40,000 quarters were released into the currency stream after being dispatched to cities across the country in special silver armored trucks. Legal tender coin is a California state commemerateive quarter minted by the U.S. Mint and color-enhanced by Franklin. One side of the limited edition collector's quarter features an image of the Silver Surfer character, while the name of the movie's Web site appears in tiny lettering. Those finding the quarter can go to the Web site and take part in the Search 4 Silver campaign, including registering to win a trip for four to the world preem of "Surfer" in London. There's other treats offered as well, including special screenings for those finding the coin early on. This weekend, Fox will pull off another marketing stunt for the tentpole when a team of 20 skydivers and a champion sky-surfer perform an aerial show at the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
  22. Joe Zawinul - Brown Street (2cd) Oscar Peterson/Roy Brown/Milt Jackson - What's Up? - The Very Tall Band Grateful Dead - Live at Cow Palace (3cd) Jerry Garcia - Very Best of (2cd) Crowded House - Farewell to the World (2cd) Lucinda Williams - West ...no sign of the BN's yet.
  23. A couple of others that are worth viewing: The Long Hot Summer (first one with his future wife Joanne Woodward) Paris Blues (a jazz trombonist in Paris - maybe Free For All could star in the remake!) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Slap Shot (ok, not his greatest, but a fun movie still!) Road to Perdition
  24. Happy late Birthday Tom!
