  1. That Frisell disc is well worth picking up!
  2. Have I mentioned the Aggies suck? Oh yeah, I did....
  3. that's not that far removed, so you have little to worry about: Alison Krauss -> Viktor Krauss -> Bill Frisell -> Paul Motian -> Bill Evans -> Miles Davis
  4. Well, that puts you ahead of Miss Simpson herself. ← The prosecution submits evidence 1-A to the jury (when you can't even lip-sync effectively, resort to the hoe-down):
  5. Was this a one-off performance, or did they do a whole tour?
  6. ok...not a box set, but I'm just starting to look for the two News For Lulu discs. Is this a representative price that this is going for?? News For Lulu
  7. Spurs got their rings from the Commish last night: ...and then went on to play a good game against the Nuggets. Finley certainly started out right in his first game in S.A. I don't know about the Van Exel signing, but if it's a package deal for Finley I'd take it any day. The Spurs hired a shooting coach (Chip Engelland) to work exclusively with Tony Parker, to help him overcome his inconsistency. And Duncan's got Fro this year. It's not Wallace-sized, but it's a start...
  8. Must....resist....urge....to make.....bj league....cheerleader....joke....
  9. I just got a cancellation notice again for the Legacy edition of "Round About Midnight". So I went back to re-order it (again), hoping it might actually stick this next time, but it appears this title is no longer available through yourmusic, or BMG now.
  10. Greg Osby - Channel Three Jimmy Smith - At the Organ Vol 3 ...hoping a few more of the RVGs show up later today!
  11. A nice lineup of artists there! Be sure and say hello to our old friend Che at the Gilad Atzmon show!

    but...but....but.... surely you see that!
  13. bump.... I picked this up today after stumbling across it by surprise. I hadn't realized it had been released with a cd. After getting home, I pulled out my older "Town Hall Concert" CD from '98, only to discover that some of the tracks overlap but not all. WHY can't they have either included EVERYTHING from the previous CD, allowing me to get rid of the older CD, or had no overlap, making them both worth keeping? GRRR.... The DVD is what I'm most interested in anyway, so I guess I'll enjoy that either way! edit: CD tracks, for those who are interested: 1. Cantaloupe Island 2. Recorda-Me 3. Little B's Poem 4. Summertime 5. Sweet and Lovely 6. Appointment in Ghana 7. Blues Walk 8. The Jumpin' Blues 9. Scratch My Back
  14. Q: Could the Aggies suck more? A: No, no they could not suck more.
  15. I hadn't noticed mention of this review here yet, so I typed it in for anyone who hasn't seen it: Downbeat Review, Nov 2005 - 5 Stars
  16. My favorite package from an Organissimo board member was from Big Al. He sent me a trade in a hot pink metallic envelope!! My 7 yr old daughter confiscated the envelope, so I have no idea where it is now. But the cool part was that it had Charlie Parker and JJ Johnson stamps on it (which I kept and have right below my computer monitor) I also enjoy the trades I've made with folks in other countries. Always fun to see the stamps & postmarks from other parts of the world! edit - I meant James P Johnson, not JJ Johnson - brainfart...
  17. Man, if the timing were better for me, I'd have made the trip up to Houston to see this. I bet they put on a wonderful performance. Thanks for the notice, Maren!
  18. Wonder if they had Jeff Kent and Carlos Beltran, how different this series would have been. Perhaps they should trade to get them back! ← I don't think Kent was that big a loss. But Beltran was - i don't know why the Astros wouldn't match the Met's offer - it wasn't THAT much higher. Or why Beltran wouldn't stay with the Astros anyway, for just a little less. They seemed to have more potential than the Mets anyway. Astros EARNED their way into the World Series, especially after the start to the season they had. But they sure didn't play the way they were capable of, for these 4 games.
  19. LOL.... way to go, both J. Dye's!!!!!
  20. Well done, White Sox!!! Jermaine Dye is the MVP....and deserves it. I think he played the best overall of all the Sox. Astros have their work cut out this off season for sure. Their D was solid, but pitching and hitting were strangely absent. Need some work.

Oh my gosh!!! Do they have a new album out too??
  22. Thx Bebop - I hadn't even considered the time lag factor that could put you out of ebay's feedback period. You've scared me off of considering these deals. The prices sure seemed good, but I guess I can find comparable deals as you suggest online elsewhere. I don't buy every copy of DB/JT, but I buy enough (at cover price) to where a subscription will save me some money. Thanks, Erik
  23. bump.... I just discovered you can order magazine subscriptions through the ebay stores. Has anybody tried this? I'm wondering how legit it is. Cheapo Magazines Ebay Store Downbeat 1 year - $16.49 2 years - $25.75 Jazz Times 1 year - $12.79 and here's an interesting combo: Blender Magazine (4 year sub) + Maxim (2 yr) + Stuff (2 yr) = $5.49 total. I don't really care too much about the magazines in that last offer, but that's one heck of a price.
