    Rare Blue Notes

There are used copies on Amazon going for as little as $7.18 at the moment. That's the Connoisseur version from 1995, which had major skipping problems in the first run. I think Holy Ghost's referring to the RVG that was supposed to be released, but got held back because of our involvement in Iraq. Yeah, if he's talking about a CD that never got released (in the U.S.), I guess it would be pretty rare! I have the Spanish BN edition (which I think is a TOCJ clone, though I'd have to look), and it sounds great.
  4. So of the big name players who have been linked to usage: Admitted: A-Rod Andy Pettitte Jason Giambi Denied: B*nds Clemens McGwire Pudge Sosa Tejada ... I'm sure there are other big names I'm forgetting on both lists. I wonder if Rodriguez' admission will help in the public eye (ala Pettitte), versus Bonds'/Clemens'/etc repeated denial, and subsequent vilification.

  6. Found this in my backyard this evening. I couldn't get much good light on it, but managed to hold a flashlight in one hand and the camera in the other. A little online sleuthing later, and I think I've identified it as an "araneus diadematus", or cross-back spider. This particular one's body alone is about 1.5", not counting the legs. It's huge! Closeup:
  7. Found a gold-disc version of Pete Townshend's "Empty Glass", for $6.98! Decent shape, just slight wear on the box itself. Goes for quite a bit of money - there's a sealed copy going for $499 on Ebay right now! (that's not typical though - starts at around $50 it looks like).
  8. Who's theory was that? Nobody's on this board, unless you can show otherwise. Duh. You weren't right at all - if it ultimately helps to clean up the sport, it's been worthwhile. The only "hurt" ones are kids who may have looked up to these cheaters.
  9. Maybe it's a novelty/nostalgia thing. Pearl Jam's got a deluxe reissue of "Ten" coming out that includes a cassette of Eddie Vedder's original audition for the band.
  10. Shawn broke the board last night, so we all called him names in Live Chat.
  11. The "we" that's doing the punishing isn't the same "we" that was in denial though.
  12. One of the definitions from dictionary.com: ducks: (Chiefly British) A dear. Often used in the plural with a singular verb.

  15. Race is later tonight, but here's what the car looks like: I did the cutting and sanding, and my son did the spray painting and 'stickering'. Ended up going with a screw-on weight system that I found in a hobby store, versus drilling and filling. It ends up weighing 4.9 ounces with the extra weight, so that's good. The only problem we had was when I was nailing the axles into the wood, the wood around the pre-drilled holes started to chip off. So I'm not sure if it is as aligned as I'd like, but we'll make do. I also tried to smooth down the wheels and axles a bit. Should be fun! Thanks again for the advice!

  18. Thanks for the info, Chris. I dunno who "Steven Banderworth" is, but he sure looks just like Jaco to me!
  19. bump... I found this image over on the SH forums earlier today. It's in a discussion about the rock group KISS and vintage pictures of them without their makeup. Apparently Peter Criss was the drummer on this '79 album by tv's Lenny & Squiggy - though I'm not entirely convinced that's him. But I did notice that the bass player looks like Jaco, at least to me. Does anyone know whether he actually did this gig or not? Seems curious, but I wouldn't put it past him. Also interesting to see "Nigel Tufnel" on the credits, who as we all know would go on to play with Lenny/David St. Hubbins in Spinal Tap!

  21. When it was 20-7 I was about to give up on it, glad I didn't. Great ending to the game! I think Warner's fumble at the end was an incompletion. They should have had one last chance after that. They claimed that the replay officials reviewed it and confirmed it was a fumble, but if they did review it sure was quick, and no on-field announcement was made, which is the norm. Jennifer Hudson did a fine job, though according to the show producer (here) she lip-synced at his request. I enjoyed Bruce at half time too - don't think there was lip-syncing going on there. Funny watching him slide right into the camera.
