Any idea why this have never been re-issued on CD (I think), sidewinder? Much of his back catalogue is now available.

I LIKE it but it may not be to everyone's taste. Most of the tunes go back to the 20's and 30's but the playing is uniformally excellent. He realy is a terrific pianist. Are you sure about that? Lord lists those eight tracks as being Vogue recordings made in Baden-Baden in May, whereas these supposedly are radio studio recordings made in Hamburg in March. Well, if that's the case then I'm NOT sure. I just went from the track titles, personnel and year and assumed they were the same. Looking at the CD cover I see that you are right. The date of the recording on the Saxophone Collection is given as May, 1953 at Baden-Baden, so I guess the recordings on the proposed NDR release ARE different....sorry.

If I was spoken to in that language by an artist I'd paid to see then I would leave immediately and demand my money back...absolutely disgraceful. ... and I'm someone who, over many years, has bought a great deal of his music and generally like what he does.

Does anyone know whether either of these "Trio New York" albums are still available? I can't find copies of them on either Amazon or ebay and the website for Ellery Eskelin's Prime Source Records doesn't seem to be around any more.

Yes, it IS a shame. This Dootone plus the three/four on Contemporary make a very nice selection of hard, West-Coast jazz. I seem to recall that all the music on these albums was released by one of the Andorran labels a while back..was it Gambit? That's probably why all the "proper" releases have gone OOP

Curtis Counce Quintet - Exploring The Future Dexter Gordon - Blows Hot and Cool The sound on the original re-issues by Boplicity wasn't brilliant, it will be interesting to hear if these sound any better.

Japanese pressing (CD) currently available at The Chicago Bards. Thanks for that, Free for All. They've also got a copy of "Music for The Viet-Cong" which is a Japanese version of the Black Lion release "Travellin' Man". Anyone know whether these Japenese pressings sound better than their Black Lion equivalents?

I see they've released a studio version of the Stevie Wonder tunes that were on the Live Tour set for 2011. Does anyone know whether they're releasing a Live Tour set for 2012?......did they tour in 2012? Update: Apparently they DID tour last year and a CD set of the "Music of Chick Corea" plus other new music is due for release on September 17th.

Do they make them in XXXXL?

Mine's on order. I'm really looking forward to seeing/hearing this one.
