jhoots - is that Subtextures? What's it like? Yes it is. Great quartet CD (Kimbrough, Ben Allison, Matt Wilson). Starts with Andrew Hill's Cantarnos. Includes 4 Horton originals & one by Frank Kimbrough. 2 classical interpretations (Messiaen & Chopin). Fine playing by all.

I got the new Ron Horton FSNT from Cadence. BTW it's superb.

Don't overlook his CDs on Arabesque.

Probably would have to be a Conn. - Pepper Adams: Critic's Choice (Lee Katzman, Jimmy Rowles, Doug Watkins, Mel Lewis). Was on Pacific. Has never been on CD as far as I know.

Perhaps Perry Robinson. Of course he hasn't recorded that much later in life either.

Wisconsin beat Maryland, so the Big 10 finally won one.

Things that have never been on CD in the U.S. (other than in the Mosaic boxes): Andrew Hill: Andrew!!!! Andrew Hill: Compulsion Don Cherry: Where Is Brooklyn I suppose they would more likely be Conns.

Interplay

Obviously a key part of Miles 2nd great quintet.

I believe this is going to see a Japanese reissue in the near future.

Matt is a great drummer. I've heard him on his own CDs + with Zeitlin, Frank Kimbrough, Ron Horton, a.o..

We thought it was one of the best films we've seen this year.

Vic Juris is excellent. Someone gave me a CDr of a live session from late 2003 with Jeremy Steig (where's he been??) with Juris, Cameron Brown on bass & Billy Drummond on drums. Nice stuff & Juris is outstanding. Don't know if it'll ever see the light of day though.

I saw him live recently playing duets with Marc Copland. I found the music depressing & angst ridden. Guess I wasn't in the right mood that night.

There's a DIW CD (? in print) by a Dave Douglas Quartet that has several Joni Mitchell songs on it.

It's not a "dud'. Having said that, I personally prefer Sweet Rain.
