I'm getting the itch to pick up a Mosaic vocal set. Of the currently available sets, it's between Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington as I have the other currently available releases. I've listened to the Vaughan clips and love 'em. I dig the Washington clips as well. Problem is, I've heard/read negatives about both. I've already read through the Dinah thread but could not find anything on Vaughan (though I thought I remember a thread) At any rate - any comments on the Vaughan?

Has anyone picked this up yet?

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

I've revisited this one more than a few times since I spotted this thread. I really do not like "Take These Chains From My Heart" at all. I do enjoy the rest of the album though. Laid back, late night listening probably nails it for me - along the lines of Blue Hour as some have mentioned. Maybe I'll burn a copy for myself without Chains.

Pointy metal objects in your teeth? That definitely counts. Was there blood? Was the gag reflex stimulated at any time? Did they perhaps accidently poke your lip or gums with the pointy metal objects? If any or all of the above occurred you could be entitled to additional sets. B-)

Glad to see that Water is continuing to release these obscure BN titles. I've developed a fascination with and an appreciation for the BNs from this era. I've got the Gales and Reuben Wilson. Had the Phantom on the Mosaic. All nicely done. I sure hope that sales will support future releases.

Speaking of upcoming Mosaics, I noted that the new Washington set is Number 227. 225 is the Jazztet set. Does anyone know what 226 is slated to be?

Wait until you hear the music - it is excellent. I've been listening to it since I got it yesterday and love it. Deal of the millenium!

Been to Wal-Mart once. Hated it x 100 I'd rather pay double than put up with that place. Total chaos - disorganized, aisles blocked with displays, merchandise disorganized. Hate K-mart. Similar chaotic ambience Usually go to Target for my department store needs. Clean, well organized and stocked. Roomy aisles and calm ambience. Buy tools and appliances from Sears.

A while back, maybe a couple of months, CD Universe had this set listed for $91. It was backordered, then had a release date, then backordered again, the had a new release date, then backordered yet again. Last week, I received an email that it had shipped. The price with shipping was around $95. I received that set today. It's the Mosaic with a serial number of B0002464-2 where you would normally see MD7-225 on the spine of the box. The booklet says "one of a limited edition of 10000". Just before I my set shipped I saw the $16.79 price and thought it to good to be true. I almost cancelled my original order for the $95 set but did not, figuring that at $95 it was still a good price. I did order a $16.79 yesterday set to give as a gift, but today, my order status says "no longer available" I guess I'm happy with saving $25 or so but it looks like some of you may have gotten the deal of the century.

I'll take Paris any day. Best trip of my life - a week in Paris, a drive through the countryside to Lyon for 2 nights, on to Geneva for 4 nights, then to Chamonix for 3 nights, through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Florence. 3 nights in Florence then to Cannes for a week with a stop in Pisa on the way. After driving around the Riviera for a week visiting places like Monte Carlo, Nice, Juan les Pins, Antibes, St Paul du Vence and yes the Fondation Maeght, surrendered the car and took the TGV back to Paris for another 4 nights. Loved Paris, loved France. It's a beautiful country. Hope to be able to make it back some day. -
Another of the great mysteries solved. Next up - dollar stores

On another thread I had been considering the Beirach and Reece Selects. I thought I'd pamper myself since just had some oral surgery and thought I needed something to "reward" myself. I picked up both of those and I added the Roulete Teagarden and Hacket Capitol sets. I am very weak
-
At least it's not my computer. Maybe I'll go for something I don't have at all. I've got two of the 4 albums in the Reece. Still thinking about Beirach as I am a fusion era entrant into the jazz world. Maybe I'll go for Teagarden..... Gotta think it over some more.
-
Had some oral surgery today and wanted to pamper myself with a new Mosaic. Anyone else having trouble with the sound clips? I'm thinking abot the Reece and Beirach Selects.
-
Just opened IE and voila - homepage is now the new Mosaic page. Anyone know what the deal is with the mail order central dot com thing?
-
You failed to notice. The more recent sets - I think starting with the Teagarden Roulette - are $17 per disc. The older sets remain $16
-
Interestingly, or maybe not, when I use my bookmarked link through my ISP, I get the new page. The web address is something like www4.mailordercentral.com/mosaicrecords. When I open IE which has Mosaic as its home page, I get the previous Mosaic homepage as I do when I go to mosaicrecords.com
-
I like it. I remember that one our most prolific Mosaic devotees - Out To Lunch - referred to the previous Mosaic homepage as looking like a K-Mart ad. I agreed and referred to it as such in an email I sent to Mosaic. Guess I'll have to send some kind words about the new site design
