Have been a big fan for over 50 years. Not as strong as their Epic classics (missing the magic of the California-Ferguson interaction), but still plenty of treasures ("Spirit of 76" is a marvelous double album, utterly unique). And 10 hours of music for under $45.

I first heard it some time in the 70's. Personally have never taken to it, but it did seem to be looking for new frontiers for him to explore.

They were awesome for a four year spell a half century ago. This Was/Stand Up/Benefit/Aqualung/Thick as a Brick/Living in the Past was a great run of album releases. Seriously diminishing returns throughout the rest of the 70's, and then it all fell apart at the end of that decade - yet they (he?) keep on keeping on anyways, because what can a poor boy do except to sing in a rock 'n' roll band?

There are countless hideous album covers. But as far as being a disservice to the music, the 32jazz reissue of this classic album has always stood out for me: Magnified by the fact that the original cover was a work of beauty:

The Roy Brooks "Understanding" set jumps out from memory. Not sure I discovered much in the way of meaningful new artists or sub-genres. Nothing like a few years ago when the whole Nimbus West world beyond Tapscott opened up to me. Thrilled to have Lloyd McNeill's "Treasures" finally on CD, but I've known that one for 45 years.

Stats say Iglesias lost it in the field last year (his bat was OK). Not sure he's the answer. I love Rizzo, and he should bounce back. Can the Yankees really do both Seager and Rizzo on top of the salaries they already owe? Seager is gonna break the bank. Not sure what my Phillies will do - they're a mess defensively and have no bullpen. Schwarber's bat would help them, but they have no answer in CF, so not sure they can afford his weak glovework in LF. And they also desperately need a SS, and probably a 3B, as well as a bunch of bullpen arms. Congrats the the Braves, for sure.

I have mostly positive feelings about #2, though I don't like the "squeaky" passage in the head. The clarinet (Buddy DeFranco?) can really play. Sonny Clark on piano? I like #5, though it is an older style of organ playing than I prefer, having more to do with the stops/sound than the style. Track 7 is "In the Mood". Glenn Miller version? #9 is by far my favorite cut. Well done mainstream. The rest really don't translate to my tastes (I am drawn to later styles), though many here will certainly appreciate them. Going from this BFT to my December BFT is gonna cause whiplash! My friend Dan Gould will much prefer this one!
