  1. Agreed. And if so, this stuff has been around for decades in various configurations.
  2. Used copy of this, good deal on Ebay:
  3. Credit where credit's due: @TTK actually posted that cut, I posted their Nuggets classic "Open My Eyes" right behind it. Rundgren's a Philly (Upper Darby) guy, I have two good friends who went to high school with him. He was recognized as a great talent even then.
  4. Thank you! I never listened much to the 'Gaucho' album, don't care for it. Jarrett had a point.
  5. What is the Jarrett connection/story?
  6. Great set at a great price. $38 for 8 CD's of that band? Carpe Dium!
  7. Winnepeg 45 for me. Thanks as always!
  8. Yes, Jamal's playing became more muscular around the time of the 'Extensions' album
  9. lo-fi for sure. Hard to listen to in that regard, but interesting performance.
  10. My favorite Steely Dan albums are 'Countdown to Ecstasy' 'Pretzel Logic', and 'Katy Lied'. I'm not a fan of 'Aja' or 'Gaucho', always sounded kind of antiseptic to me, and I did not keep up with their work after reforming in the 90's. I like the 'Can't Buy A Thrill' and 'The Royal Scam' also, but don't think they hold up to the first three I mentioned. My favorite cut is probably the title track to 'Pretzel Logic'. The chorus, "Those days are gone forever, over a long time ago" is part of my vernacular, especially as I age, and I love the cut musically. I would really enjoy parts of the book about lyrics to that song and others, but don't know when I would find the time to read it. But I'll definitely keep it on my radar. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
  11. I'm out, hope I can just hear it at some point, but my goal is to move out all vinyl, not add to it.
  12. Aren't all of us here? 🙂
  13. CD times out at just short of 81 minutes. Sound quality is plenty good enough, though I think it may be needle drops (but if so, from high quality vinyl). That company (M.I.G.) has put out some really nice releases over the past couple of years, including a "Gary Bartz NTU Troop LIve at Bremen 1975" 2CD set which is the best Bartz I've ever heard. Also an excellent Marion Brown Live in Bremen 1969 2CD set from earlier this year, and other interesting Bremen releases.
  14. Any hope the rights will be cleared, and the material released?
  15. He is 86. Full life.
  16. Yes, that group!
  17. Saw him with Beaver Harris, Dave Burrell, Cameron Brown, and Charles Majid Greenlea at the Empty Foxhole Cafe in mid-70's. Unforgettable, especially "African Drum Suite". Harris was a monster live.
