What do you mean? I know he was caught with a guy in a public restroom, that was a big deal about 15 years ago. I also remember that he was driving high and crashed into a house in an SUV, and did time for that. So I don't know what community you had in mind. I just view him as a very talented singer-songwriter, not a champion of anything. Was he an addict to the end? Died way too early, no doubt about that. One overlooked record of his is OLDER. I might just buy it again.

What do you mean "fully remastered'? This is the company that issued these - http://www.audiowavemusic.com/ I guess they're now distributed by the Elusive Disc. -
what are you drinking right now?

Udaca Red. Straight from Portugal. $15 for 5l jug. Can't beat that! That looks expensive. How much? -
RIP. Don't know much about here. She looked well older than her age here. Heavy drug user?

I don't know what's going on with this forum, or with the search function, but is this the only thread dedicated to the BN XRCDs? I'm late for the party, just ordered my first 2 discs from this series - Back To The Tracks and Bluesnik. -
Have a nice one

Yes, wow, I just checked, and there are no more new power centers from Monster. Used and nos are available, but with no warranty one should steer clear.

I don't remember off the top of my head. I think it's either HTS2500 or HTS3000? About 10 y.o.

Yeah, I've only had the Mac pre and amp for a little over a year, so I've only had this feature in use on the old Mac cd player for just as long. Preamp controls the amp and the other Mac pieces in the chain. I suppose it can also power up other brands units with the 3.5mm inputs. Also, I think my power surge protection unit from Monster Power has a remote, and the 3.5mm trigger outputs for powering units up and down. I never used it, though. It is a heck of a convenient feature , since I can use just one remote now. .

O, cool! Thanks, guys! I think it would be appropriate to list our music-related birthday gifts we got for ourselves [wife doesn't give me anything music-related, but it's implicit that she lets me have what I want. ] So I went out and bought myself a new used pair of speakers. Magnepan 3.6/R . Magnificent for jazz...

My 1997 McIntosh MCD7009 cd player already had that 3.5mm jack. It is a convenient feature, but nothing new. McIntosh had first started using these cables for data control since the mid-1990s, I've been told. Don't know if they were the first ones, though.

I was a vegetarian for about 6 months last year. Just wanted to see what it'd be like. Wasn't hard. Only went to a vegan restaurant once, underwhelming place, weird patrons. What's the story with saitan? That's some nasty shit. If you don't want to eat meat, why invent something that tastes like meat?! -

What live music are you going to see tonight?

If he's selling his cds, the one I recommend is Motif. Not every record he's made floats my boat, but this one I really enjoyed. -

I've seen him several times this year. He's a local. Good playing always from the prince of bebop. -
Should I update the os to a version 10(?) Every day a pop up comes on asking whether I want to do it. I haven't, so far.

Jeez, you are a new yorker, don't forget that. You're supposed to be tougher than getting all soft on virtual insults. Stick around.

So I compared my 47 W 63rd original pressing of Jimmy Smith's Groovin' at Smalls Vol.1 to the RVG that I just bought. I will preface by saying that I am in no way prejudiced against CDs in favor of records, but the sound on this LP vs the RVG is so clear... I'm still keeping the RVG 2-fer for the previously unissued material, but boy does it sound flat and lacks definition comparing to the three-dimensional sound of the record. Once I get going with taping my records, I'd be happy to supply the sound files for your own scrutiny. I'm almost oblivious to the process of cd mastering, but the sonics on the LP are just so much better than it's CD counterpart...how is that possible?! I can assure you that my cd player and outboard dac are pretty good, so the problem isn't with the digital playback. It's the material itself...

Wish I could read the article, but I'm not a subscriber. Sounds like they're doing some good work with preserving the early formats for future music lovers. The day will come when mint conditioned 1st pressings of BN and other labels will be scanned, 3-d printed and offered on demand. Wishful thinking?

Thanks lads. So let's see if I understand you correctly. I tape the lp to a file, split tracks in a software program like Audacity, transfer to my iTunes library, then wirelessly connect the said library to something called Airport Express, which is, in turn, connected to my preamplifier via RCA cables, and use my iPhone as a remote control to play my files?

USB tt is out of the question. The quality just isn't there. I have a very satisfying set-up now, and would go the old fashioned route - TT>preamp>digital recorder. Cheaper recorders possibly and probably have worse a/d converters, although I can't be sure of that. Also, importing directly from tt to pc carries significant background noise, based on what I've read and heard. The other question is how to actually play the needle-drops on my stereo.
