  1. The environmental problems are key concerns. However, I've heard reports that Blockbuster profits $10 billion a year on late fees alone. Maybe these self-destructing DVD's will force video rental stores to re-think their pricing.
  2. Dexter's "Willow Weep For Me" from "Our Man In Paris" and Sonny Red's "Stay As Sweet As You Are".
  3. Gentlemen, start your engines!
  4. Jacknife, thanks for the coupon tip. Bought All Seeing Eye, Far East Suite, Eminent J.J. Vol. 2, Miles Davis Vol.1 and Harry Potter Prisoner Of Azk. for my nephew and I don't feel guilty. Thanks.
  5. Some other alto solos on BN that I enjoy are by: Eric Dolphy Ornette Coleman Leo Wright Lou Donaldson Sonny Red Gary Bartz
  6. I believe that's on "Mr. Brown Goes To Washington". Another good'un.
  7. Brad, if you could buy only one album by Ahmad I would highly recommend "Ahmad Jamal at the Pershing - But Not For Me". It's the album that made him famous.
  8. Berry Gordy could have at least let that band know Motown was moving to Los Angeles instead of leaving a note on the door when they showed up for work. If you notice, Gordy never gave this band an endorsement in the movie or otherwise. The only Motown artists who dared to speak in the film were the Motown "outcasts", Mary Wilson and Martha Reeves. Two former artists who have had the temerity to voice what a jerk Gordy was. Can't remember the title, but Mary wrote a scathing exposé of Gordy's treatment of the Supremes. Plain and simple, the reason Gordy kept those musicians a secret was so that he could under-pay them. They were the "Motown Sound". I remember how recognizable that "sound" was whenever there was a new Motown release, no matter who was singing. Looking back does not compare with being blown-away at the actual time those records came out. The "Motown Sound" was very distinctive back in the day. Now that it has become formulated it is taken for granted. Just remember they were on more #1 records than the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones and Elvis combined. That's more than anybody. We should have heard of them before.
  9. Wonderful movie! For me it's a real tear-jerker. For these guys to toil in anonymity all those years and only receive recognition on their deathbeds, Berry Gordy needs his ass kicked!
  10. Hallelujah to both choices!
  11. Gee, they kinda do look related in those two shots!
  12. Yes, it's just you. They look nothing alike. -_-
  13. Sonny Liston was A FEARSOME FIGHTER. He didn't get his reputation by beating up bums. He had cleaned up the heavyweight division before he fought Ali. He didn't beat up a lot of over-the-hill-fighters, like Marciano did. He beat Eddie Machen, Zora Folley, Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams (twice) in addition to Patterson (twice) in the first round, all of them in their prime. He was an awesome puncher with what was thought at the time, the best jab in history. He would have destroyed Marciano. Practically everyone he fought, with the exception of Williams, was afraid of him. Williams stood toe-to-toe with him and got knocked out for his trouble. Nobody could stand toe-to-toe with Liston! Foreman beat everyone he fought until he met Ali, not just Frazier. The difference between Shavers and Foreman was Shavers couldn't take a punch. And as for Norton, look how Foreman blew him away. To underrate Liston and Foreman is to minimize the skill, artistry, speed and intellect of Ali. These fighters were thought of as invincible until Ali showed us all how speed and intelligence will overcome power ("float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see").
  14. Another example of rampaging bureaucracy!
  15. It came with Classic 9 but according to Jim Dye that's different from OS 9. I can boot up in Classic but it's not the same thing, I've been told.
  16. Fathead plays alto, soprano and flute sometimes in addition to tenor.
  17. Can't start up in OS 9 until I install it. My options for system preferences are OS X and Classic 9.
  18. Jim Brown, hands down. What up with "James Brown"? You talking about big backs? 6'3", 230 lbs., with sprinters speed. The most frightening, intimidating football player to ever step on a field. After a 9 year career, having never missed a game, he quit football at the top of his game, while he led the league in rushing in his final year. Remember this, 5.7 yards per carry for his career, although all defenses were designed to stop him. That will never be broken. He was the only running back I've ever seen that all players were afraid of, even future hall of famers. Spike Lee did a great film on him last year. Check it out and learn the truth.
  19. Is OS 9 the same thing as what Mac calls Classic 9? OS X gives me several compatibilty problems with peripheral devices. The online Mac stores are offering 512 mgs of ram for free with purchase of some of the G4s. That means they ship with 768 mgs of ram.
  20. Ummm, Warm Canto.
  21. This is a term that has come into being in recent years due to all of the different sanctioning bodies having their own world champions. The term linear champion is used to imply that the particular champion is the man, who beat the man, who beat the man.......... all the way back to the time when there was only one champion per division. In Lennox Lewis case, it implies that he is the heavyweight champion who can claim the same title that John L. Sullivan first won.
