  1. Put them in king size zip lock files and throw them in the cupboard until needed ( seldom).
  2. It was UFO . Middle Earth opened after UFO closed.
  3. I saw Yes maybe twice. They were a few years after the Piper At The Gates Of Dawn Floyd period. 'The Yes Album' was the one that I best remember, everyone played it to death but that was about 71 or 72 I think. I wasn't really a progressive rock fan but the Pink Floyd were unique in the true sense of the word. More than anything they captured the mood of 1967 in London. The street/music scene and Pink Floyd were completely intertwined. I was lucky to have lived there at that time and Syd Barrett's passing is epecially poignant for me. If anyone back then had said that his death would be worldwide news in 40 years time I would have thought they were mad.
  4. It was great of course. The club was small so you could stand right in front of the stage to watch. The dreaded era of big arena concerts hadn't started so music could still be experienced in more intimate surroundings. They had a great light show.
  5. I saw him with the original Floyd several times in London, in fact I met my first wife at an original Floyd gig at 'Middle Earth' in Covent Garden. Anyone else remember that place ?
  6. So long Syd, thanks for the memories.
  7. Indeed great. Time to relisten to some of the Complete Mercury.
  8. I thought it was all right but pretty quickly forgettable. For all the fanfare I thought it was rather flat and uninspiring. Batman Begins is the benchmark 'superhero' flic for me.
  9. Elizabeth George - Playing For The Ashes
  10. Here in Tokyo we have access to an incredible variety of cdr and dvdr. From my experience Taiyo-Yuden are the best with a near zero error rate. I've tried all the other Japanese manufacturers with mixed results. I avoid Maxell, they are unreliable. I now use BenQ for everything and am more than pleased with the results. I've never had an error on a cdr and have had one error on a dvd. That's from hundreds and hundreds of burns. My strong recommendation is BenQ. I pay about $17 for a 100 spindle of cdr and the same for a 50 spindle of dvd-r.
  11. My wife is Japanese too but she agreed with me that the Japanese team were poor at best and that Oz well deserved to win.
  12. Once, to our astonishment, our cat (rip) killed and dragged home a fully grown rabbit ! Luckily she couldn't get it through the cat door.
  13. Thanks for the links. The first one doesn't seem to work but 'Isn't It A Pity' is brilliant.
  14. He was a great musician and will be missed. I remember seeing him on the British Ray Charles tour around 63, he was brilliant and I've been a fan ever since.
  15. So, pundits and Sopranoheads, what do you make of the final (?) episode. My reaction was ' Yes, and.....you mean that's it ?' I suppose we have to wait for the final final eight episodes to see what happens next.
  16. The response is very inconsistent, sometimes ok, often dead slow with quite a few error messages.
  17. Chubby rain? So Steve Martin was right after all.
  18. Unless it's a sealed or is being sold by someone I know through the various boards, I limit most of my eBay purchases these days to sellers in Japan because I know for a fact that any cd that I buy -- be it labelled NM, excellent, very good, fell into aquarium and was attacked by koi carp, etc -- will be in perfect, or close to perfect, condition. Sure, it does limit your options a bit, but I never have to go through this kind of BS that this goober is pulling on you. That said, a couple of weeks ago I bought a used 1986 Japanese copy of Evans 'Green Dolphin Street' (VDJ-1576E) from an Amazon seller who described it as "perfect." If it didn't carry a $5.49 price tag I wouldn't have given it a 2nd look -- but I did......and it was/is "perfect". Although I never buy things from the likes of eBay, I can confirm Mr Weizen's comments that Japanese used cds are 99.5% in mint or near mint condition as a matter of course. Of the countless used cds I've picked up in Tokyo not a single one has been anything less than pristine or near pristine. It would seem that cd shop staffs just don't buy anything that is substandard.
  19. Beatles - White Album & Revolver Cannonball Adderley -Somethin' Else I think these were the first. I was a die hard lp fan and held off buying a cd player at first.
  20. Anyhow how many of you have seen the film and what did you think of it as a film? I don't want to make any comments at all regarding the various posts but there seems to be little comment on the film itself ! In my very humble opinion I thought it was an intense and superbly made piece of filmmaking that took my breath away.
  21. Truly... as if to say that the buffoon can't even get that right... But that's the thing... Logan's no buffoon. He just acts thay way sometimes, which makes him all the more dangerous. Nah.... he's a buffoon--he proved it last night thinking that wifey would really want to sleep with his clenched, sorry ass. Jean Smart has been awesome this whole season. Yep, the prez & 1st lady stole the show from Jack.
  22. Stone has made some bad films but I hardly think the label horrid filmmaker is fair. JFK and Nixon are both outstanding as pure film, not as agendas or alternative histories, just plain dynamic, interesting filmmaking. That's my opinion anyway.
  23. So far the series is a dead loss. I can't imagine what the writers are thinking about.
  24. Gloomy. Cloudy and drizzling for the last two weeks. Cooler than average, still need a coat at night. Very odd weather I must say.
