  3. Actually, I was more interested in terms of who was out of the regular game (recording, touring, etc...) by the fact that they were otherwise in this band, with this weird steady TV gig. For instance, Smitty used to record a lot (I've got him on quite a number of dates from the 80's), but I can't remember the last time I've seen a CD that he was on. Anybody else "hiding" in that band?? -- right in plain sight, so to speak.
  4. Who all is in the tonight show band these days (and/or who's often been in it since Kevin took over from Branford). That's still Smitty Smith back there on skins, I presume. (We watch The Daily Show and Colbert here in the Rooster household, and we rarely have any interest in The Tonight Show since Leno took over.)
  5. Hey, let's expand this topic (and also update the subject) to include out-takes (out-"snaps"?) from the same photo-session as an album cover. In other words, the 'alternates' need not be used on another album cover to qualify. -- Tom

  7. ain't nothing wrong with this... - Lunchtime in Zuccotti Park, New York City. ...and I ain't much of a fan of jazz vocalists either.
  8. If she's good enough for Greg Osby, then that's some pretty decent cred right there, no? (sound quality ain't perfect, but what is?) I've never owned any of Norah's CD's, but I've heard a couple -- and they're quite lovely for what they are. Probably the same with Esperanza too, judging from these Youtube clips... Youtube search on "Esperanza Spalding".
  9. I'm not into a lot of these kinds of music(s) -- nor do I own any of them -- but I still thought this was kinda cool. With usually between 5 and 10 different examples (and sound clips) per sub-genre (and there are dozens and dozens of sub-genres). http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ Click on the various categories on the left side of the page, and then a map of the sub-categories will appear.
  10. Lots of suggestions here... http://www.kittencare.com/askKC_Litter_Training.html
  11. Put me down for more A4 and some of the front-half of A5. But mostly A4. Edit: A3 is OK, but before A3 largely bores me to tears. And the back-half of A5 is sometimes interesting, but more 'out' than I can listen to with much frequency. Interesting scale. Could have maybe done with a couple more gradations (maybe 7). I think there’s a lot of borderline A3/A4 material, and also stuff in between A4/A5 -- that doesn’t quite fit into each of the 5 grouping levels very neatly. But I think its heart is in the right place.
  12. It better come with jewel boxes is all I've gotta say...
  13. Got mine Tuesday, and I've only had time to spin a couple tracks, here and there. Hope to give it a full spin tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Thanks!!
  14. 10 Lp's worth of material, and 9 are top drawer in my book. Don't pass this one over, folks.
  15. Well, from what I've seen in the local papers (I've never seen the show myself, but there was an Extreme Home makeover here in the KC area a year or so ago -- with a lot of local coverage), the size and scope of the resulting house is TOTALLY out of character with the surrounding neighborhood -- thus driving down the value of the home (well, down from what its expected value might reasonably be after the makeover), and frankly driving down the home values of the dozen homes in closest proximity to the offending McMansion in the middle of 'normal' houses. But hey, it makes for good TV - so who cares what the long-term impacts are.
  16. Damn. Loved him on Sanborn's Night Music. - front and center, on Letterman
  17. I'm sorry, and I'm usually not this direct, but can we just ban this motherfucker. He's directly advertising free downloads of material owned by one of our very own members. There's plenty of shit in his second post that's still in print (Blue Train??), and even more that isn't all that hard to find -- as long as you pay the going rate for used CD's on eBay, half.com, or Amazin (only $10 or $15 a disc, in many cases). So long, noodlespoodles. And don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out...
  18. In 10 or 15 years I'm betting they'll have the technology to actually do this. (And I'm only half kidding.)
  19. More coverage, with pics... http://www.austriantimes.at/index.php?id=7633&pid=1124
  20. and another video I stumbled on ages ago... -- dance cover of the Joe Henderson tune originally from Multiple (1973)
  21. OK, NO vast list of mad limitaions like half all my other threads. Just anything jazz-related (as expansive as you want), in any kind any non-jazz context. Me first -- The most-viewed "jazz music video" on Youtube today is...
  22. Yep, that's exactly the thing to do. Jim nailed it (as he so often does).
  23. Wasn't aware of the unissued tracks. Were they on the Prestige box??
  24. Wouldn't that be about two CD's of material?? That seems like the single most logical repackaging idea you could ever come up with. The three (it is three, right?) current single-CD issues of this material are quite short as I recall, so it's not even like packing it all on two CD's would result in overly long CD's. Years ago I totaled up the times and got to something like 85 minutes at most (less than 90, I'm almost sure of it). Could it be that the whole thing might even fit on one 82-mintute CD?? (Isn’t that the new max time limit on CD’s these days??) What are the timings of the current individual CD's?? Truth be told, I've borrowed this material a number of times from friends (a disc or two, here and there, never all three at the same time), but I've held off buying copies for myself precisely because I've assumed FOR YEARS that a unified single package (complete) would be forthcoming in only a matter of another year or two. (And I've thought that for going well on 10 years now.)
  25. Not so greasy, but impressive none the less...
