  1. Go for it. I copped it from a thread on this same topic, on fark.com. Two or three people there had each (independantly) made one (animated gif) from the video. (Not to take any credit for the gif, as it wasn't my doing.)
  2. It's funny, because it's true.
  3. One more small step towards world domination.
  4. No - thank you, Jim, for all your hard work keeping this place running.

  6. Not that I'm saying I'm any better than anyone else... But, honestly, I've never seen any of this show -- not even 5-seconds worth (not even 2-seconds). I have no idea what night of the week it's on, no idea what network it's on (I'm guessing ABC - a replacement for Millionaire, wasn't that on ABC??). No idea how the game works, or anything else about it. Wait, I saw 30-seconds of an SNL parody of the show, and I vaguely remember that luggage was somehow involved That's all I know, officer, every bit - I swear.
  7. You trying to hurt me, Chuck?
  8. Don't know if this is related to the general slowness these days (although I think it probably is)... I've noticed a significant uptick in the last several days, in the number of double and even triple posts. Same thing with multiple copies of the exact same thread being created. My guess is that in most cases, the original post is just timing out (although the post does work), and then when people hit the back-button on their browser, to try again - they end up posting the same thing multiple times (unknowingly). Just an observation.
  9. no first post?? Can't see anything other than the topic subject and sub-heading (description).
  10. I read somewhere that the tires were weighted off-center (with various other parts from the car), and balanced just right so that with just the slightest nudge -- they would "climb" uphill, despite what gravity would otherwise dictate (without the weights). So, the weird tire thing is legit.
  11. I had the good forture to hear Mr. Hicks play live once, here in Kansas City. I've forgotten who all he played with (Spontoon, do you remember? - if not, surely it was in your column for that week), but surely it was for one of the many great "top drawer" NY-centric pick-up groups that Bobby Watson has brought to town (since Bobby took over the jazz program at the UMKC conservatory, here in KC). Besides the music (which was sublime ), I especially remember how much fun John was having that night. He REALLY seemed to be enjoying himself, both on and off the stage. He played a couple solo-piano things too, once each at the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd sets -- and you could have heard a pin drop in there (The Blue Room), which is really saying something - cuz there's always idle chit-chat going on normally in that venue. What I also discovered that night (which I already mostly knew), was that the man had chops like almost nobody else I'd ever heard live, save for a very small handful of other players. Made me want to go right out and buy half of the man's catalog, that very next week. RIP, John, and thank you for giving us such beautiful music over the years.
  12. My all-time favorite Patton CD, and a very fair price.
  13. Now here's a talent you don't see very often... Stairway to Heaven (Backwards) Dutchman Jeroen Offerman learned to sing the song lyrics for Stairway to Heaven in reverse. After three months the job was done. He went up to the steps outside Saint Paul's Cathedral in London and performed it for an audience of confused passers-by, pigeons, and a video camera. Back home he reversed the tape and put a karaoke track underneath. Stairway To Heaven Sung Backwards, The Forwards Version This is the normal Forwards version of this guy singin Stairway To Heaven backwards.
  14. I will be spinning this shortly...
  15. You're sick Joe. Just plain sick.
  16. I think the JRM site is pretty hard to use to just brouse for stuff. Sidemen aren't listed on most albums, and searches only get hits based on leaders (mostly). Also, most of the releases don't have even the years of recording (or decades) listed. You pretty much have to look up everything someplace else to even find out basic info about the date. Not very easy to do searches by label either. In short, the site is about as user-friendly as the catalog section in the middle of Cadence mags (or having said Cadence catalog in Microsoft Word, maybe). Sure, if you already know what you're looking for -- the JRM site is OK (and just "OK" at best). But those of us looking to explore a bit, are sure out of luck doing much exploration with listings as informative as this (straight from their "Product List" page...) Who wants to skim though page, after page, after page, after page of that crap. Edit: I know the format of my quote is different from that on the site -- but hell's bells, the raw-text formatting in the quote above is actually BETTER than the formatting of the same info on the actual JRM site. Make that two thumbs down...
  17. Chris, in his younger years...
  18. I've always used the free service (like 3 bids per week, or was it 5 per month?) from Auctionstealer. I don't bid on all that much, but if I did - I'd probably pony up and pay for their services. (I've only used their server-based service, and never bothered with the tool/wigit you can download and have run from your own PC.)
  19. Somewhere (in some box, lord knows where), I've got the entire Miles Davis Radio Project spread across about 5 or 6 90-minute cassettes. 2nd generation copy, from a buddy of mine who taped it back in the day. Pretty cool documentary, actually. I think it was 8-hours long, and the last 2 hours was all live material, mostly "unreleased-at-the-time"-kinda stuff, as I recall (mostly from the late 80's and/or early 90's, but maybe two or three cuts from ealier). About 10-12 minutes was Miles leading his then current band in rehearsal, I think. If I can find and dig out all the tapes, I can loan them to you sometime, Paul. (Finding them all, now THAT'LL be a challenge.)
  20. ????? link doesn't bring up a specific story.
  21. Anybody got a track-listing yet?? Can't wait to hear it!!
  22. Absoultely. Dusty, especially, has definitely met the challenge. Laugh all you want at their mad-lib product descriptions (I laugh a them too!! ), but damn if they don't work.
