  1. If anyone is still looking for "Singular Genius" and prepared to pay 60 Swiss Franks (64 US$ or 50€) plus shipping*, let me know by writing a PM tonight or tomorrow (by latest at noon US time) and I'll grab the copy that's at the shop where I got mine! *) shipping estimate ... just weighed mine plus some old amazon box and it's around 500 grams, which makes a big price difference, I'm afraid - rates are: to 500 g / Europe: CHF 15.50 (economy) or 20 (priority) / overseas: CHF 18 (eco) or 26 (prio) over 500 g / Europe: CHF 18.50 (eco) or 26 (prio) / overseas: CHF 24 (eco) or 36 (prio) I can do my best to pack it that it's below 500g but can't really promise anything ... but I guess it gets to expensive for US anyway. And in my experience economy shipping within Europe is fine (takes ca. 2 weeks usually) - I'm quite sure these rates are up to date. Compared to the few new copies up on amazon, that's quite okay a price, I think (not sure it will be sealed, CDs often aren'tt over here, but I can of course check and get it only in case it's in perfect shape - I will not guarantee that it arrives in such, though, but I will do my best to pack it nicely, though that will probably mean it goes over 500g., adding some bubbly stuff etc.). I'd take a Mosaic or amazon gift certificate in ways of payment. So, if anyone's interested, let me know! (can make it to that shop tomorrow, if not, only in two weeks again - but I guess chances are that it will still be there by then - not sure where they got another one from anyway, )
  2. disc five - the "Oh Yeah!" session - love it!
  3. Intriguing! Had no idea Sulieman played saxophone, too!
  4. Has Joe Harriott been mentioned? "Free Form", "Abstract", "Southern Horizons" ... they all fit the bill for me. Some may find it quirky, though...
  5. Toronto 70 (still totally clueless here, but thanks for the invite, GA!)
  6. as far as Coltrane goes, I think my favourite - if I understand the original poster correctly - would be "Sun Ship" - some of the starkest beauty to be heard in music (but that's purely subjective, of course)
  7. very good, will definitely order! shipping is 3$ no matter where to?
  8. I quote that lovely poetic piece from above: "Still, he's old man went to Cambridge..." (sorry, couldn't resist )
  9. Cheers on that! (And on the rest of the post and your other posts here, too!) As for Lieb w/Miles, there's also the Montreux set, officially released though only in the huge (but worthwhile) 20CD box.
  10. Posted a little review (in german) of the great Elina Duni concert here: http://ubus-notizen.blogspot.ch/2012/11/elina-duni-im-moods-zurich-20-november.html
  11. Elina Duni and her great little band (Colin Vallon, Patrice Moret and Norbert Pfammatter) - wonderful concert!
  12. Very sorry to hear, though it was expected after the recent bad news. Will play some of his music again later on.
  13. Okay, thanks! Will hand my faulty set over to someone and wanted to make sure!
  14. No. They'd need to pay for a translation and they don't pay for unnecessary things Seriously: we all speak engrish of some kind and major label releases should be identical (except for some of the small print, I guess). Vol. 1 only has english notes.
  15. I just went through like ... four pages up here (w/40 posts a page, in case) and couldn't find the info on exactly which discs of the Murray box were faulty - "Ming", it seems, "New Life", and I think there was a third? Was it "Hope Scope"?
  16. Love Chapin, will get this!
  17. So what are the room rates in Aubrey Plaza?
  18. I know you're not too serious about that suggestion, but it really is not, as those "modern" harpsichords tuned to a=440 Hz, high string tension, case and soundboard construction adapted from modern garnd pianos sound pretty awful - when they were built, our knowledge about harpsichord construction between 1600 and 1800 was not as advanced as it is now. Ancient harpsichords have far more overtones and a much richer sound. I'll look for harpsichord recital recommendations in Zurich in the magazines I decribed - try and go hear a good instrument live. Oh, please do! I'm quite lost when it comes to picking concerts ... and I would tend to rather go for modern stuff - but solo harpsichord would definitely be interesting! And obviously I was just joking
  19. Disc four, the great "Wheelin' and Dealin'" session
  20. Ah, crap, that's on Nov 29th and I'll only get back from Lux on Nov 39th! Too bad, Basel would definitely have been an option! Btw, I was at that Black Records - a nice shop, but contrary to most record shops it was rather ... empty and neat, not overflowing with stuff. There's a CD only shop next to it, but as everything closes down so darn early, we had no time to check it out. Maybe next time (week after this one).
  21. discs three and four with the fine Garland sessions
  22. Hooked by Trane ... about to finish disc four. This will be a Trane Prestige day, I guess!
  23. Thanks, didn't know that .... can't read the liners as I don't have the box yet but plan to get it, eventually.
