  1. Here's an interview I did for Matt Warnock - part of his series on the musicedmagic.com site. http://www.musicedmagic.com/acoustic-and-e...-joe-gloss.html

    Bill Frisell

What a great album cover! Frisell w/Cuong Vu: hell yes.
  3. Volitile price fluctuations can be a part of supply problems, too.
  4. Right at the very top of his range, too. Sounds good, guys!

    Jon Hassell

The last Hassell I heard was in the early 90's, when I was into Hearts of Space and Echoes, both of which would feature his music from time to time. I had one CD of his but let it go. Was also listening to a lot of Steve Tibbetts, David Torn, Ronald Shannon Jackson, and electric Miles. Seems so long ago now, but those are fond memories.
  6. Thanks Bruce. The saddest thing is that a lotta people have been there for years (I been there less than 3) and were crying. I feel the most for the longtimers. You read and hear about it everyday, but it doesn't really hit home until it happens to *you*. So true. I've been fortunate thus far, but none of us knows what's around the bend. I hope you guys can find a good means of income soon.
  7. Guitar repair is not my strong suit, but it looks like your guess could be correct: http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/tuningprobs.htm
  8. A beautiful sound and a stately presence. The Real Deal.
  9. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.
  10. I think that's one abstraction too many for my taste.
  11. Herlin Riley. Probably putting in a little extra for the cameras, but he was pretty animated the other time I saw him live, in a small university venue.
  12. Did the pianist get lost? Wynton looks like he's trying to steer him back with that look. Hard to tell; I was lost for much of it. Rodney Whitaker on bass - now there's a bad mf!
  13. Here's a shot taken by Mark Sheldon at our recent Indy gig, with the new Hofner:
  14. Show 'em this - replete with the Diorio Dance!
  15. You're welcome! More than just the code may be expiring before long though. Somebody on the SH Forum just commented that BMG is no longer accepting new members as of today. Their website is suggesting that people go check out Yourmusic instead. I wonder how much longer BMG/Yourmusic has. I've had the BMG site bookmarked for years, but today it suddenly started redirecting me to yourmusic. I had to type in the web address of BMG music service just to pay my bill. It took me to that page as well, but when I logged in at the bottom of the screen, it went to the BMG hompage.
  16. From the liners: Recorded April 12 and 13, 1993 at MM Recording Lab, Parma (Italy) by Raimondo Meli Lupi Mixed May 18 and 25, 1993 At MM Recording Lab by Raimondo Meli Lupi Mastered by Alessandro Cutolo at Elettroformati, Milano Cover artwork by Joe Diorio ~ I will give this a spin soon.
  17. I don't know much about Chet, but that picture makes me want to cry!
  18. I'm looking for a place to put this (found on myspace): Average Jazz's IQ = 122 Are You Smarter Than a Jazz Player? Take a Real IQ Test Now!
  19. Belated wishes - here's to another stellar year, my friend!
  20. I almost started this thread a couple of times, Paul. Blueberry pancakes are the baseline breakfast food for me. My Dad can make a mean omelet, but I haven't mastered that yet. The best breakfast I think I ever had was one my sister made; Mexicali eggs. Basically you get a pot of salsa/tomato stuff simmering, then drop some eggs on the surface. Once they're poached, you scoop them out into a pre-made tortilla cup, garnesh and serve. I think that was around my birthday one year, so we also had some kind of alcoholic beverage, then chocolate cake for dessert. Dessert for breakfast - YES! Then there's a great tradition we have in our extended family of eggs ala' suisse for Thanksgiving and Christmas morning. A nice riesling goes good with that. And finally, there are three or four restaurants in town where one can get a good breakfast, which I do almost every weekend, especially when Rachel comes up. So yeah, I like a good breakfast. :rsmile:
  21. I think Ron Neuman has cornered the market there. (inside joke)
  22. Does this mean a bigger budget for the guitar program?
