  1. Quintessentially Original Quickly Over (not) Quality Oranges (or Opium, depending on what's in) Queerly Opinionated Quoteable Opus QuasiStellar Object Quaffing Old Style Quodlibet (look it up!) Output
  2. A Stone Cold Classic of the genre. Organissimo might not exist were it not for this and those other Young/Green/Jones albums!
  3. Note to Big Al: You've seen Quartet Out. Later this year you can come up here and catch Organissimo. Then you'll be not just the only person on the board, but in the entire UNIVERSE (AFAIK) who can make the claim of having seen both bands. Not that that means a damn thing, but hey, you gotta have something!
  4. Oh BTW, April is International Guitar Month!
  5. Great stuff, Al! Hopefully I'll get to hear these guys with my own ears before they hang it up, or I die, whichever comes first.
  6. Still on the fence about it. I also just spent a bunch of $$$ on paint and furniture sprucing up the house. The credit card statement is looking heavy. Where's that GD tax return???
  7. Metal and jazz... hmmm, reminds me of somebody, but can't quite put my finger on the suspect!!! Me?
  8. $2.20 here as well, give or take. Fortunately I don't have to drive far to get to work. Close enough to bike it in, actually.
  9. Thanks, and please do post more. This is still in the back of my mind to order someday.
  10. The answer to both questions is YES. A musician is what you are (among other things of course); playing a gig is something you do (when it works out). The tree that fell unheard still had an effect on the surrounding environment. And the work you do in private has a profound effect on yourself, and, I believe, still connects to the greater world of sound and intention. Just don't forget: Keep It Greazy!!!
  11. Keep that spark alive, in whatever way seems best to you!
  12. I just clicked on the Misc Non-Political forum and it's there at the bottom of the first page.
  13. I didn't realize the whole thing was that widespread. Certainly we've heard it plenty of times, that and the variant "Play some Skynyrd!"
  14. Hope you have a smooth move, bro!
  15. A monk, a rabbi, and a priest walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and says, "What is this, a joke??"
  16. Yep, the Alleycat was on my front porch when I got home from work last Friday. It's a nice little guitar! However, I think it was Wednesday or Thursday night I was lying in bed thinking, "Why did I order that thing?". So I'm trying to decide if it's going to fill an important enough role to justify keeping it, despite the great price. I mean, am I really going to want to leave it at work? And is it good enough to play on a gig? It's not as comfortable to wear and play as my Ibanez, that's for sure. I'll have to think about it some more. I know, I'm a big party pooper.
  17. Of course I was referring to the CD when I said "that f@#cker".
  18. And that f@#ker was nominated for a Grammy!
  19. Looks like a good one. Thanks for the tip - and for clearing up the George/Jerry confusion for me.
  20. Next week, you mean?
  21. D'oh! I just realized that the whole time I've been reading this thread I was confusing George Garzone with Jerry Bergonzi.
  22. See? I told you. You're so tense and stiff that not only are your fingers incapable of forming a simple G7 chord, but now in a fit of frustration you've crushed your guitar in between your hands!
  23. I guess good news comes in threes as well!
  24. Mmmm.. be careful with that thing. A little goes a long way. 2 or 3 minutes might be a lot. I personally think you get all the strength you need just from practicing the instrument. After that, it's more about flexiblity and relaxation, or at least not exerting more energy than is needed to sound the string, especially in the left hand (if you're right handed).
