Just had a quick Laphroig (15yr) while my wife sniffed her 10yr Ardbeg. -
Hi all. I have been trying over the last few days to get a good price on some more Grados and found that Headroom.com were cheaper than others from the UK. However, after getting a postage quote to this country the online sales guy has emailed me back with the following: I wanted to get hold of them fairly badly (as you do! ) so I was wondering if there are any folks who'd extend the courtesy of being the 'middle-man' so to speak. Thanks for reading. Tony.

Which side of Radiohead's OK Computer is better?
tonym replied to Guy Berger's topic in Miscellaneous Music
It's available on vinyl I think you know what I meant. Right. And I responded by saying it's available on vinyl, so it can be broken down into sides. So. Just to clarify. It is available on vinyl. -

It's weird that you brought this up; I was listening the other day and thought "this would've been a great album for the vinyl era" and i suppose it has a Dark Side feel about it all. So side 1 for me. The latter part of the album is very good but the sublime moments happen thick and fast through the 30 minutes. We moved into out present house the month this disc came out and I listened intently, at night, darkened room etc...etc.. for months of that very wet, tiring spring. It became part of the furniture and fabric and hearing the album again draws me back to that half way house of sleep and consciousness that night-workers experience. Stirring stuff. I love all their albums since, Kid A is a real high point for me since they abandoned the heavy side of their arsenal. -
which ones do I go for? Shure E2C or E4C (big price difference but will I notice the extra detail?) or Etymotic ER6/6i ???? One unanimous decision please Thanks folks.

Any friend of yours Matthew is a friend of mine!

I'm not sure if mine have changed that much; creature of habit! Miles' Relaxin', Getz's Roost quartet performances and The Steamer. Lately when on late jobs where I need to catch a bit of sleep or relaxation I find Tord Gustavson's recordings do the trick very nicely

Mallaig is beuatiful. Even in heavy rain.

Hi Edward, i wouldn't worry about what type of vehicle you hire during your road trip up north; many of those breakdowns could be simply down to punctures or maybe the 'locals' running around in 30 year old British Leyland motors Any modern car would suffice for any trip around the UK! As for distillery tours...this page may help you decide! If you're a fan of peaty, salty and ocean blown malts then a trip to islay should be up your street. I'm planning a run up there next year. I'm sure other Scotch fans on the board will differ wildly about the relative merits of their own favourites but the island itself is supposed to be worth a look anyhow. Let us know how your plans are going.

Blue Note Album Cover Books

I got mine from the Cockburn St. store in Edinburgh a few years back. Last year I was in the Rose St. store and they still had them! Is that the 'New York Hot' that they still had? oops, sorry bud...no the BN cover art books! -

Not as bad here, but still autumnal. 16deg C, blustery North Westerley winds. Coal fire was on last night.

I watched it a few weeks ago on DVD and was pleasantly suprised. For a while though I was expecting the threat to come from just being underground and in darkness; nothing so benign I'm afraid... For someone who hates being in a confined space (my idea of bliss is a long, deserted road) and detests the thought of ever having to be in this situation (why people do it for fun is beyond me) the movie had me on edge in the first 15 minutes. I do though, think it'd be better on the big screen. Watch it with an open mind.

Martha Stewart Living: Jazz For the Holidays...`

Awww..come on guys.....you'd buy it just for the cover..... (hang on where's that :vomit: smiley?) -
I'm sorry to hear this Paul, it seems like the real good guys on this board are going through some tough times, yourself included. I really don't know what to say apart from what I said to a neighbour a few years back; he came into the local shop one night and bought a bottle of whisky then proceeded to unload his dismay upon me about how his wife had just 'decided' that marriage wasn't for her. Kids were involved and he was stunned at the seemingly sudden turnabout. I said to him, look you're a good fella, you're in good health, there'll be loads of women who'd want you -- look on it as a fresh start. I didn't mean this in any sort of flippant manner, but you really can't undo what is done, a good guy like yourself will find love again -- if you're the type to give it, you'll receive it once again, hopefully in the not to distant future. Keep bouyant Paul, if you find it hard, let the folks here help, and I'm sure once the pain has gone away you'll find yourself enoying life again.

All the very best Gary; how about a little Trane for the occasion?
