  3. Shit, at this rate I'll be riding This is not good for the sport; starting a witch-hunt only weeks before it's most publicised race. What do they hope to achieve? Even if they end up down the bottom end of the UCI rankings they'll still be finding riders who are linked in some way with these doctors. At least in the 'old days' of providing a test, you knew where you stood.
  4. edited to ask, is this as groovy as it looks?

  9. Do you think those headlight clusters/front wings would pass our NCAP tests nowadays???? Not made with pedestrians in mind. Mind you, over there you don't have people juts walk out into the road do you, like we have in this country. British cities are a free-for-all with little respect for road markings, zebra crossings, lights or box junctions. That goes for pretty much everyone, from the stereotypical 'white van driver' to many cyclists, cabbies and commuters in general. If you try to observe etiquette and road manners you pretty much feel like you're wasting your time. a-a-a-a-a-nnnnnnnd........Breathe...... Rant over, sorry. Beautiful motor that though!
  10. RVG madness recently.
  11. Today in fact! Visted York City Art Gallery with my 5 year old son who has been talking about Van Gogh and Jackson Pollack with his teacher last week. I wanted to show him some works by an English artist, maybe one who considered industrial scenes; Lowry sprang to mind. I explained to Joe about Lowry's style of 'matchstick'men and women which he found highly amusing. As it happened, the one Lowry in York's collection happens to be a scene from York of the Clifford's Tower which we also visited today! We sat for some time talking about what art is and how different forms of expression can be considered 'art'. I love these moments with him. Anyhow, one exhibition was in progress of Tom Bendhem's, a successful businessman who became an avid collector of modern art.
  12. ECM sound? Care to elaborate? Not sure what this means.
  13. Belated Birthday wishes to you Jim.
  14. Brad Mehldau -- stick to playing the piano mate
  15. I love the Trane/Hartman version to bits but I've always been partial to the to the Trane version from 1957 with Red Garland and Don Byrd. Possibly because Garland's playing is like so much of his stuff with the Quintet; beautifully dense chords and shimmering triplets. The when Byrd's solo comes in, it's like a mountain looming into view. Love it.
  16. National holiday then?
  17. Mine turned up bright and early this morning -- thanks Chuck.
  18. All the best , mate!
  19. Hell's bells...you've just reminded me of some really dodgy schoolfriend's parties with that album cover... Anyhow, this is the latest from a band who rarely fail to impress me; I missed a live gig (free one too!) by them not so long ago --- may catch them one day.
  20. Are you on a commission?
  21. This arrived on Monday: and this today (bargain!!)
