Hang on...if I had a 'buddy' I could go on for ever like this. Maybe inhabit entire threads.
-
I'd better rack up some more then....

Regardless of shirt colour, you might find that people will be looking at your medallion. I plan on getting one when I hit 50ish.

'Spring' is by far (IMO) a less complex, but no less interesting, album than it's sister disc. I feel it does flow better and Shorter's playing makes for beautiful listening alongside River's turbulent outbursts. Even the solo drum feature is worth listening too

If I use my car it's 89 and a bit pence per litre. Which means it's approx £3.43 per US Gallon. About $6.45 per US Gallon On a run using between 15 and 18 to the gallon (depending on how much I use the squeeze/lift off/pops & bangs over-run ) this is scary expensive. In the family motor we can use the regular unleaded at 87p per litre which isn't a great saving.

I'm not sure if I dreamt this, or read it here, but I believe the next batch of Euro RVGs won't have the CP. However, if they do, the quandry will persist; what with retail RVGs going for about £6-8 over here, do I just bite the bullet and get them anyway.

Fuller's. Drank a lot of Fuller's at the Rose in South Ken -- their cask beer is very different -- not as malty -- I wish micro-brewers here would give real English style ale a go here (but they seldom go in that direction). Haven't tried the Pete's Red. I'll have to put it on my list. --eric 'London Pride' is the one. It has to be drunk within booting distance of the Fullers brewery in London though, to be sure that its from a fresh cask. The pub right next to 'Mole Jazz' does a damn good pint of it.. B-) Is that Chiswick? There are I think, some decent pubs which have live jazz too. BTW Tesco's have for a while now, been offering London Pride at £1.33 a bottle.

Looks like you've come to the right place Sonnyboy Welcome from the UK. Your dad's music certainly does brighten up dreary ol' England.

I have a Mac G4 and the RVG of JACKIE'S BAG and Larry Young's CONN, MOTHERSHIP cannot be read by my machine. The cd icon doesn't even appear on the desktop and therefore cannot play on my Mac at all. Yeah Cali, when I search 'My Computer' for the audio file in the E Drive, it's almost as if it doesn't exist. The only way to play it uses some media player I din't even know my laptop had. BTW. My friend got a gold over in the velodrome. Did you get chance to go?

Wow. Missed this thread first time around. One of my favourite subjects too I haven't tasted Old Milwaukee, but I'll look out for it. We don't get chance to sample many US beers here (apart from the obvious) although there is one good vendor about 40 miles away who caters for the American servicemen at Menwith Hill early warning station. From him, I've managed to taste lots of Sam Adams and another brand who's name escapes me at the moment. Life does sound good down in Arizona Wes. Just how far is to the Mexico border for you? I do like the idea of heat/slow living. I think my wife would hate it. She does like seasonal weather. She's ready for a crisp, blowy autumn morning after only 4 months (at best) of warm, sunny weather..... I suppose we do have the Sam Smiths' brewery only 45 miles away though. Oh, and Theakstons/Black Sheep are less than 20. If it's dry tomorrow a pootle across with the top down might be in order . Cheers folks. EDIT: sorry Wes, you said it's an hour.

http://www.users.on.net/~alexanderino/cdex/ the current version of CDex looks a bit spiffier, but it is basically the same. someone mentioned that during installation he was prompted to pay for some LAME codec. Haven't found out the details behind that, but LAME is free, just like CDex so don't pay anything anywhere. I recommend you get the 3.90.3 LAME encoder. My computer is not allowing the LAME download to install files. I have turned off all my popup blocker settings

As per usual, John comes up with the priceless techie low down Thanks all.

I did indeed mention on another thread that my pile of recent RVGs weren't able to be uploaded onto the iPod. I did in fact, try CDeX, but found it very confusing, more due to the fact that I'm no wizard on the PC. The software that Claude recommends may be worth a try but if what he says applies to my laptop too, then it may be redundant; I have a DVD drive but no CD writer... So, if anyone can offer advice about CDeX etc., we'd be more than grateful Cheers all.

If you're a muscle-car fan, it's a flat-out home run ... they did a great job of updating the classic look, and they've already had to increase production on them. I love it's looks (but not in that colour ). The rear axle situation supposed to be a bit archaic though. If I had that money to spend on a new car, it'd definately be a contender.

Takin' Off. That's the album I meant.

Anyhow, that second track by Hancock sounds remarkably like Alone and I from errr...errr, you know Hancock's debut. On the whole it a very riffy, straight ahead disc. Much like some of Morgan's post Sidewinder stuff, but then you hear Shorter's playing and in spite of it being only 1961, he has that slurry, emerging-from-the-ground sound. But then he comes across all Coltrane.

Unfortunately, it's the dreaded Copy Protection; so as a result I've now a nice new stack of RVGs which aren't able to go on said Pod. There is some software which allows you to do it, and I've heard some weird claims that black marker pen around the periphary of the disc will allow uploading, but no luck yet. That software does look mighty confusing. As it happens, I've also heard talk that the new batch of European RVGs won't have CP. Can't remeber where I read that though.

Beautiful! BTW you know the Stag; they were a bitch of a motor. Don't know if you know this but at the time Triumph was part of the British Leyland group, who also owned Rover. Triumph wanted a gutsy engine for the Stag, but something other than the straight six, which the TR6 had. Let's put a V8 in, they thought. But rather than using the reliable and efficient (torquey, light and fairly powerful) Rover V8 (a copy of an American design ), they built their own, without utilising any spec or info from the existing Rover engineers . As it happened, the new engine was a pig and they had multiple design faults. I know of two current Stag owners who've supplanted RV8s into their cars. Back to topic; does anyone like the new Mustang?

The Blair v. Howard debate hots up in the UK. Recent discussion here.

Errr...what was the question again? That's it 'Free Form'. Blimey I bought it when it was RVG'd and you know what? Because I can't put it on the iPod (I know there is a way, but I haven't fathomed it yet) I have yet to listen to it!!! I will, in dedication to this thread, 'cos I think it's about 'Free Form' , put it on this evening. Or after the Top Gear re-runs have finished .

BTW, if you like British sports cars, I'm in the car in front of the car in front, travelling thro' the North Yorkshire Moors earlier this month here.

You're kidding right. Anyway, what a great thread. Didn't even know it existed. Some beautiful, beautiful Caddies here. Along with some other greats. I recently found this on a UK site for sale; I'd have it tomorrow if I could.

Hang in there mate. It does get better. We live in such a consumer-driven society where you are bombarded with must-have's every day. Take pleasure (when you can) in the simple things; the odd coffee with friends and a long chat, enjoy the neglected part of your book or record collection (not the ones you're about to hock, exercise and ahem...sex. But not the paid kind. Terribly expensive . Mid 20's eh?!!!! Bitch of a time when you should be having a great time.
